Yeah certainly could be. My Fiesta ST is also considerably quieter with 5W-30 instead of 5W-20 and I did think the noise was from the balance shaft gear drive.I think it’s the balance shafts. They’re always so noisy in these engines.
Unfortunately there isn't. VRP is unique and there really is no competitor at the moment. I would expect it to reach Europe at some point being it's already in AU.Is there anything else similar to Valvoline R&P that might be available in the Euro/UK market? I've been reading this thread and sadly can't get that product locally. We generally don't see "high mileage" or engine oils with that kind of marketing here.

There are 100% synthetic brands out there that all naturally clean but some add to it and advertise cleaning entire practically .VRP 5W-30 100% full synthetic is known to clean like VRP.

And I’ve saw more cleaning using Valvoline EPHM and DELVAC 1 ESP.Perhaps just speculation on my part , but in order to get the most out of VR&P cleaning - I would think you have to get the oil up to temperature and then drive for a good 20+ minutes of hot oil cycling through the engine to get max cleaning each drive . Short trip driving with VR&P will take longer to achieve the desired cleaning affect versus mixing in some longer drives . If you are a short tripper, try to get your vehicle out on the interstate for a good drive more often over the course of an OCI to get the most cleaning out of this oil after it’s up to operating temperature.
I did the same thing with my 10+ year old Honda mower. Best cutting mower I've ever had and need to keep it running. Apparently they don't produce them anymore.So this spring my Toro push lawnmower was puking smoke about 5 seconds after starting each time then cleared out a few seconds after. Dumped the 10W-30 Walmart oil out and filled with 5W-30 VRP. After about 6 or 7 times mowing the lawn no more smoking upon startup. Did VRP save me from buying me a new lawn mower this year? Time will tell.
Do we know if VR&P cleaning pack is heat activated or not ? I still believe a short tripped vehicle is going to take longer to clean carbon piston & ring deposits out versus a vehicle that is brought up to operating temp and then driven for a period of time - repeatedly .And you have facts and data to prove this don’t you? Of course, VRP is getting anything deposits along the pistons in addition to the general cleaning; where as we do not know if these other oils can clean the pistons like VRP.Well another short VRP OCI is done. Coming up on a full year of usage and about 10K miles total.
This was only 3000 miles. This the the media from the Boss that was on. (Not running a Boss again). Decided to give the B7318 Baldwin another shot.

The engine is running great. But I deviated to red jug max life for this fill because I wanted to see if it’s true that just running short 2k-3k OCI will also clean. When I cut this next filter, I’ll see.
I know VRP works. I’m just curious if red jug cleans a bit, too.
That'd be any gasoline rated dino oil, especially a dual rated HDEO. Lots of CK4/SN+ if there are LSPI concerns for use in modern cars.so far the closest thing is oils with significant ester content.
That's a good point because what many could be seeing is carbon in engine and not rings. It's my understanding that piston deposits are not easily removed, hence why VRP exists.
