Valvoline Restore & Protect

A neighbors 2019 Subaru Outback FB25 on its 2nd interval of VRP. I have no before pictures, there was normal light varnish in the cap and filler.

That looks very good!! Normally there’s a little crud in that oil puddled area.

5 Quart Jugs!
I have enough issues pouring a 5-quart jug when I change my oil. The good old days of pouring quarts containers of:

1) Mobil 1
2) Castrol GTX
3) Valvoline

I am not doing the 5 Gallon thing. LOL
I won’t be buying anything larger than 5 Litre jugs but even those I hate but it’s cheaper.

Do you Canadians have Valvoline oils on the shelves? If so I don’t know any reason you shouldn’t have R&T.

Still just marketing hype meant to fool naive consumers and con them out of their hard earned money. This flash in the pan product will be on clearance by summer.
Faster on clearance than say Magnatec and it’s intellegent molecules ? Just kidding , I actually liked Magnatec and was sorry to see it go . If VR&P becomes available in a 5W30 with HTHS of 3.5 then I become very interested .

Hard to believe al the factory fill oils from Ford, Stellantis and GM with HTHS around 3.0 have it all wrong.
How dare they skarew-up are brand new engines like that?

This VRP certainly does seem to have a positive effect upon engine deposits. Changed oil with 5w30 500 miles ago. ‘08 FJ Cruiser with 144k. Always used Mobil 1, 3-5k OCI.

Pulled the filter at 500 miles. Found small black carbon like specs. They turned to a smudge when touched or rubbed. Didn’t expect to see this so soon.

No real varnish or visible deposits through the valve cover fill port. Can really only see the timing chain.

I'm using this oil in an old 1985 Lincoln Mark vii LSC. Seems like it runs ok however the wasn't leaking at all until about 1500 miles after changing it. I was using it cause I either have a stuck oil ring or bad valve stem (heads redone recently) and smoke on the driver side exhaust. No excessive blow by. Was hoping it may remedy it.

I would argue that as is VRP still very interesting. I’m using it in the Sienna on the OCI.

Perhaps 10w40 or 5w40 grade? I highly doubt you would see a euro style thick 5w30 in Valvoline R&P

If they are going to sell over here, they would probably get ACEA specs, so 0W20 above 2.6-2.7 and a 30 above 3.5.
A valid point but a few ???
could they even make R & P into a euro oil with long drains and euro approvals?

but in your market plenty of products we dont see here and the other way around.
Just look at tires for example.

ACEA specs would suffice.
And some recommendations instead of approvals on the bottle.

Chris' post above mine aimed me to offer a generalized response. Can't see how you missed it, unless you normally throw a dart to suggest a starting place for reading at BITOG and the flying dart landed on my post.

My remark was intended for anyone that feels that he / she cannot get multiple decades and hundreds of thousands of miles out of a oil that never registered above 3 on the HTHS scale.

If that's your version of a troll or snark, then that's fine with me. I've been called saint and devil..... all in the same day. I'm good.

Since most of their vehicles in the NA market have no hths spec requirement and dont spec 5w30
I thought you were replying to something else. 🤷‍♂️
