Even though probably true, the mileage ratings I take with a grain of salt. Sort of like "lifetime" fluids, hours ratings on the LED bulbs in my house etc.

Many things are different for everyone, the vehicles, the motors, the long/short/driving/idling conditions. That's why some of us crazy OCD people at BITOG do UOA's and people think we should be committed. Just bring it to the dealer at OLM and never worry. If bad replace with the next lease.

How is the 10k mile warranty covered and what proof is needed that it didn't hold up and caused motor failure that they can't blame on something else. If I ever get to doing higher mileage trips where I might consider that I'll see. Currently I'm 2-3 changes per year on each car doing about 5k intervals now.

True, I realize that the oils rated for 20k, 25k etc will not be able to handle that interval in every situation. But I feel more comfortable doing 10k intervals with an oil rated for 20k+ than I would with an oil that has no mileage rating at all.

0W-20 VRP is routinely on sale at Amazon. Three 5 quart jugs for $80.29 ($26.76/jug) is pretty normal. Most have been able to stack it with the $5/jug Valvoline Cashback promo. Bringing the per jug price down into the low $20s. Once you factor in the 6% no rush shipping if you have a prime Visa card, it’s even cheaper.

Decided to put my truck away for the winter and use my daughters 07 Ford Fusion rust bucket as a go to work commuter car since she is going to school in Chicago. So I gave her an oil change of 0w-20 VRP and a Micro Guard Select oil filter. Picked up some VRP 5w-30 for my wife's Malibu as well. Couldn't hurt to try it out!

I haven't been active lately since the holidays have me out of town for a good while. I did drained the oil around December 12 with the dipstick looking pretty good with greatly reduced oil consumption as the level since the last photo show little change. The oil was in service for 5064 miles in the span of 6 months.

Put in back the same combo of 1 quart of HPL EC30 with 4 quarts of VRP for a second run. As a sneak peak the oil filter came out really good this time, hardly any deposits on the bottom of the can compared to the last filter it ran, will post a full photo gallery of that sometime later this weekend.

why not use Valvoline R&P of the recommended viscosity without mixing other oils and follow the directions as stated by Valvoline, as they formulate very fine oils and they do have a great reputation, very likely it does work as stated is what I see here and other sources, and I'm sure the product is completely tested to do these claims indicated ,there might be some slight variable end results, but over all its a product that does what is claimed..........B

It very well may work for you. I was gonna use it in my Dakota but they won’t make a 10w30 grade. So it will go in something else.

In Australia we get two flavours of Valvoline Restore & Protect, 5W30 (SP & GF-6) or 10W40 (SP). I would like to try the 10W40 in both my cars (GM Cruze and Nissan XTrail / Rogue) as both burn a fair bit of oil, especially the 1.8L Cruze.

It's an expensive oil here, at $97 (AUD) for a 6L jug. That translates to about $60 (USD) for 6.34 quarts. I'll wait until it comes down in price.

It would be nice if we got 10w30 and 10w40 instead of the CAFE grades 🤬

Yeah, brother and older vent told me “it specs 10w30 cause it’s a pushrod engine”. Not sure I believe that.

I truly do believe the Mobil 1 5w30 "vanilla" oil with religious 4-5K OCI's has saved me many issues others have experienced with these engines. When I changed the Timing Chain a couple weeks ago, the engine was very clean. No need for EP in my book lol. However, I am curious as well if it can clean up the ring problems these were plagued with as well.

Please do this. We'd like to see the results. I have the 2020 model with the 2.0 TDI engine. I'm having no problems with it so far.
