Valvoline Restore & Protect

I’m anxious to try it in dad’s Dakota. Currently vehicle has 3.200 miles on some oil and filter.

Can’t decide to throw the ENDURANCE on or one of the CarQuest premiums
Look up Brand Ranks on YouTube, he's an engineer that does a very compelling and scientific experiment for oil filter performance using a testing rig he's designed and continued to improve on. He has a video including the most recent Fram line up (minus the Titanium).

Watch that and tell me you still can't decide on the Endurance.

It is amazing to me how long this thread has run about one simple new package of motor oil. I do not think I have seen another thread run near this long about any particular oil. If one did I would guess it was either about an oil from Mobil or Castrol.
There are lots of You Tube videos on the Rand P oil, I guess I will start watching them.

I'm currently traveling in Mexico and stopped by at the AutoZone here.
They do have the 10W-30 available here ....

I bought an Endurance filter for my Corvette and after reading the many comments on here about possible bypass valve leakage I decided to go with a Carquest Premium instead. Fram has really gone downhill quickly in recent times. From hero to zero 😬

I really wish they sold this stuff north of the border. I'd really like to try it in an oil burning 2GR.
I have a feeling that it will show up in our stores in the very near future. The Valvoline oil change location near my place in Guelph is now offering Restore and Protect for their top level oil change (for $120). I predict Canadian Tire will start selling it before the spring.

Man that would be awesome! I love new stuff like this and I have high hopes it will reel in the oil consumption some.

Just did the third fill of R&P in the X5.

I cut the filter apart and there was nothing interesting. Only a couple small flakes of carbon. No cleaning seems evident to me either. The varnish in my engine seems unchanged.

Probably going back to Mobil1 European after this. It’s cheaper too.

Thanks Chris.

Just oil change every 4K. Anything from Havoline, to Napa to Supertech. Techron every 4K (doesn't do anything for intake valves, but Hyundai calls for it in the maintenance section.) Only had the car a year. Had 44K when we bought it. Dealer serviced before we got it. Seemed to be every 5-6K.
I did everything I believe was right for my ‘17 Theta II 2.4 L GDI engine and it burns more oil than any engine I’ve ever had (close to 3/4to 1 qrt. over a max 4,000 mile OCI). Of course it’s my only GDI engine to date … All my other PFI engines bought new with same good oil change practices never burn a drop of oil . The wife’s ‘07 Sedona with 3.8L PFI Hyundai V6 went over 300,000 miles on up to 5,000 mile OCI’s with M1 5W30 vanilla oil and never burned a drop of oil … That 3.8L was a decent Hyundai engine .

Have you considered a piston soak? Worked really well for me in the 2014 Kia Rio. Berrymans B12 works like a champ. Cheap too.

Even though I bought a jug of VRP 0w20 a few months ago, I finally got around to putting it in my Civic today (didn't want to cut the previous interval too short) My plan at this point is to run at least 3 intervals, 6000 miles on the first one and then maybe 8k on the second and back up to my usual 9-10k for the third run. After that I'm still undecided what the plan will be (who knows, maybe I'll just stick with VRP for a while)
