This has been covered here many times, but I thought I would post a recent tech support response. Yes, as long as your newer vehicle can get by with API: SP and ILSAC GF-6A you can use Valvoline Restore and Protect in newer vehicles. There are places on the net that say the Valvoline Restore and Protect is only for higher mileage engines, which is not true. Anyhow, I thought maybe someone here might want to read the reply I received today about their detergent and wear packages in their various PCMO engine oils.

Hence the reason for an API license.
"Meets or exceeds" is kinda meaningless without actual approvals, licenses and certifications.
These should be backed by a warranty for their claimed specifications. Not exactly meaningless.
So @buster, you saying their info they sent me today is outdated? In the e-mail they said API SP & GF 6A.
One of their engineers said it already exceeds it they just haven't updated the labels, which is likely the case for many of the products seen on the shelf now that say SP/GF6.
