Valvoline $5 rebate w/Autozone oil/filter deal?

Autozone is a participating store.

Just wondering if anyone has had success getting the Valvoline $5 rebate when stacked with the Autozone $37.99 oil & filter offer? - 12/31/24 - 2/10/25.

Oh, guess it started today so maybe nobody tried yet?
A five dollar rebate on an already over priced combo isn't much of a deal to me.

To answer the question, yes - Valvoline rebates work with AZ deals. At least, it did for me.

The only time AZ deals beat WM or amazon is when you include an air filter. Net cost after rebate is $40.99 for 5 qts Valvoline R&P + STPXL filter + STP air filter.

Compare to Walmart or Amazon $45+ after rebate for the same oil and similar filters. $24.97 for the R&P after rebate, $7+ for a Fram TG, and $12+ for a generic air filter. These prices don't include tax.

In the past I would have never looked to Autozone for ANY oil and filter "deals". But after learning about the sad state of passenger car oil filters as seen in the oil filter forum here, I've become interested the Premium Guard manufactured oil filters such as the STP XL oil filters. Never thought I'd be interested in those either...

Anyway, my STP XL oil filter applications cost between $9.99 and $11.99. And then VRP at my Walmart currently cost $29.97. So, currently, today, for the oil filter I actually want plus the oil for $32.99 after rebate isn't too bad of a deal.

Now I would not be surprised if within the next couple months the VRP goes on "roll back" for say $24.97 or so? And then $5 dollar rebate on top of that would be the deal to beat. Since I don't "need" oil and filter right now, I'll probably will wait and see.

Now, I haven't been an Autozone value shopper in the past so my question is do they have sales on their STP XL oil filters alone without bundle "deals"? I'd think they would? Don't know?

Besides Autozone, I could source the filters from my local Federated parts house. I have not checked pricing there or have any idea of any future sales?

Open to other ideas and seggestions...

I haven't seen any STP XL sales at autozone other than their oil/filter bundles. However Advance Auto recently had a sale on Carquest Premium (same PG filter as STP XL).

To the best of anyone's recollection, what might the price differential be on the Advance sale? A typical $9.99 oil filter costs???

The markdown only worked for a short while at my local store. Now they are 9.99 again. Maybe it's a regional thing? The following thread describes it.

The answer to my original post is yes. The Valvoline $5 rebate works with the Autozone bundle deal. No problem.

For me, after searching the internet, this appears to be one of the most economical ways to get a Premium Guard XL oil filter specifically in the PH8A sizing.
