Use Castrol Mercon V (ATF) in a 5 speed MT?

LeMarque - You picked a bad choice. That lube[M1 synth] is NOT for manual transmission.
It is for differentials.
Not great for shifting, and not good for brass/bronze. Their reps don't encourage it for manual trans use.

Still a bad choice for a synchro tranny though

M1 reps say it DOES have an effect on yellow metals.
Maybe there is a rather new version out.

I also agree that M1 is not a good choice. Unless this gearbox calls for a GL5 fluid?

My Jeep Patriot 5 speed specifies ATF fluid. Is there something better I could be using?
