What problem? It's the same easily mitigated issue (minus the seal shrink) that any of the higher purity base oils have (poor solubility). This is countered by adding something with high solubility to it, like esters or AN's, which eliminates the problem and also provides proper seal swell.
Yep but some people insist on their own opinion however.
 
I assume some sort of enhanced dispersant chemistry like would be in traditional diesel oils to deal with the same thing. The idea is to prevent large agglomerates from forming.
I see it in the Rotella T6 after 15K hard miles. The oil looks like soot-soup.

But please also mention the disadvantages of PAO oils apart from the higher price. Poor seal compatibility, poorer solubility of the additives.
This isn't an accurate representation fully formulated motor oils.

All PAO oils are formulated with an ester to insure seal compatibility and additive solubility. This has been known for decades.

HC (GR3/3+) oils have their own disadvantages such as requiring pour point depressants and some exhibit the similar advantages/disadvantages of PAO

In any case it's the final product which matters rather than any one individual component.

If one shops approvals only then by all means use whatever is cheapest but don't be fooled into believing all products just barely meet the performance requirements of the approval.

Some use AN's instead of esters, or a combination of esters and AN's, as AN's can have some advantages over esters in some areas, but they have lower VI's, so can be challenging to blend with in higher concentrations on wide spreads.

Yes, if you've been here for any length of time you should know the pros and cons of PAO. PAO based oils are among the very best formulations but of course we know it has to be combined with other types of oil to get the proper balance.
 
But every PAO engine oil has this problem. One should not always insist on one's own opinion, this with PAO is even confirmed by employees of the oil companies. Why doesn't Porsche actually drive PAO oil in all its 24h cars? You have to be really crazy to take the bad hc. 😂🤭

Probably an all POE engine oil like RedLine Oil would be better, right? 🤔
