I couldn't figure out how to update the original post so that the title shows an update. So here is a new thread to update the situation: I'm getting a 2019 Audi S3 with 17,000 miles. It came together pretty quickly. I drove it for about 20-30 minutes today and I was pretty excited. The same 2.0T that was in my GTI but now making 288 hp. and torque of 280 lb-ft. It is a CPO. I think it's going to be a fun car and very understated, which is what I wanted. Too old to be a boy-racer.

I drove the Jetta GLI yesterday and it was OK. The GTI would be a little more fun but most of the vehicles available were either white or black with black wheels. The Audi is the grey that I had wanted.

Thanks to all that participated in my original post.

First congrats on the car. Awesome choice. Even better than the A3 due to the is38 turbo. I think the APR or EQ tuning are a better choice. Seemed more were happy with the apr or EQ than the unitronic . All are really quite reliable in the basic stage 1 form. They get quite fast and powerful on a 30% ethanol tune with no other mods you can surprise most anything on the road at that point

355/338 with the tune.. why cant they make one of those for jeep 2.0 turbo (not really asking just whining)

The only things encrypted more than a FCA/Stellantis PCM is top level government stuff 😉

Congratulations on the cool car! Might want to consider a radar detector to keep you out of trouble!

yea no kidding, IIRC it changed in 2018-or so previously it wasnt so bad that you had to send your ecu in to be cracked for a tune.. and of course security gateway etc.

I hear the uniden r7 is the new top dog for radar detectors.

has gps lockout, detection Arrow (direction of radar is indicated) and excellent range.

nice choice. definitely not the type of car to be left stock, especially with easily concealable tunes.

i took a test drive in an rs3. 400hp 5cyl awd dsg = idiot proof. you can embarrass a lot of more powerful cars, absolutely no driver mods required. you can match that on the 4cyl s3 with just a downpipe and tune.

I run an Escort Max 360, also has arrows and GPS lockouts, along with a pretty nifty companion app that works similar to waze but auto updates whenever the detector picks something up.

Coming from huge VW fan...the 2.0T is very tired. Revolutionary back in 2005 when they slapped a new head and turbo on a 2.slow block that dated back to the 80's.

Are you disparaging the modern 1.8 and 2.0 turbo engines? They are pretty solid.

The modern VW turbos are good, if not industry leading. They share little to nothing with the older engines.
