We have a now just over a year old LG side by side with ice and water in the door, very happy to say the least. I posted on this before someplace so just wanted to update what I just read for 2024

Have an LG side by side, came with the house so is a 2019 model. Linear compressor crapped out last fall. By the serial# and build date it was barely still under the five year LG warranty. I called the service rep on a SUNDAY and she took my info and said a tech would contact me. A fellow showed up tuesday in an LG service truck loaded with spare parts and fixed it (replaced the compressor and recharged). Came back the next day after it had temp stabilized and adjusted everything. All covered under warranty. Very polite and competent tech. Gave him a large tip.

Only anectdotal evidence but in my case, nonpareil customer service!

appliances these days are a "crap shoot"!! recently got an LG basic frontloader because i did NOT like my linty top loader after having a whirlpool frontloader for 18 years that only seen one load weekly mostly, gave the toploader to a family member.

My Bride and I watched this video earlier in the week. Lots of helpful information.

If you don't want to sit through the video- this biggest thing we learned is to avoid at all costs a icemaker that routes through a refrigerator door. If one needs a door dispensing icemaker, make sure the icemaker is routed through a freezer door.

The publisher of the video states all new refrigerators are a high-risk purchase, the more toys the higher risk of refrigerator failure. The video publisher shows schematics, and recommends you look at the schematics. The simpler the wiring, the higher the reliability.

Not to rain on the OP's parade, but Customer Satisfaction reviews are BS.. Just look at what you buy online.. They deliver it and then they hammer you with a review request.. Well... I just got it. Hit me up in a year or 2 to ask me what I really think..
🤣 forums are a better source of data, right? 😂

Daughter had a LG recently. Broke down. Had to wait forever for parts. Service guy said they are the worst of the bunch.

18 year old Maytag in the house. 40 yo Kenmore in the garage. Hope they continue forever. LG would be LAST on any list that uses reliability as a factor.

Other than the ice maker not working for 5 years and then suddenly coming back to life (still trying to decide if this counts as a positive or negative) my 8-year-old Samsung hasn't had any other issues.

I bought a Hisense bottom freezer / top fridge on the advice of the sales girl who knew what she was talking about.
Her advice: 1) keep it simple -no ice or water in the door - use ice trays; ipad like screens in the door are also a no-no. Avoid telematics, and last but not least - do not buy the most energy efficient models. Energy efficient refrigerators rely on gimmicks like linear compressors and crazy computer controls. If NOT energy efficient you can bet it’s got an old school compressor. An added plus to my fridge is no condenser to clean, it cools the Freon using the skin surface to dissipate the heat of compression. Going on 4 years now with nary a peep. Sales girl told me she’s real tuned in to what the repair staff says and customer feed back - when a fridge she sold goes south, customers let her know.
Bottom line: keep it simple stupid.
