Kitacamry was bought @ 97k miles...owner1 says oil was changed every 5k miles by Curly Moe and Larry and they say their basic conventional OC was Shell 5w-30...
Owner1 traded it in and the dealer changed oil to PYB (bulk) 5w-30 and after inspecting/cleaning/reinstalling the gunked PCV valve you see here, I decided to change the oil to PP 5w-30 @ 3k miles and replace the PCV valve and PCV hose as well as remove the valve cover to inspect underneath...
Little more than varnishing on the engine and some residue on the inside of the valve cover likely from heat caused by the old gunked-up PCV valve....
I thought the engine ran very smoothly before OC (showroom quiet in fact), but after PP OC it runs more smoothly, and even more quietly as well...but the improvements may be attributed to new Denso iridium long-life plugs replacing factory installed plugs and a throttle body cleaning as well...whatever the source of improvement, it is noticeable and appreciated
....unless I experience oil burn-off or any leakage (there was none with the conventional oil) I'll be staying with PP 5w-30 from here-on-out...
