??? They screwed the pooch on this one IMHO.
Really? Is this just a huge marketing blunder? Was it not selling? Jeez... it just strikes me as very weird. You have the largest retailer selling your product and then Whoosh! It's gone from the shelves.
Very strange indeed! Big companies try not to make those types of mistakes. Was it a mistake? That's what I want to find out... The oil itself probably is very well put together. But? How do you does a big company roll out something like this and then it vanishes? I don't get that?
They had Ultra at $5 a quart about 4-5 months ago. The problem is that Pennzoil Platinum is still "Good enough." Aparently, some WalMarts also still have it. There was a pretty large difference - OK, Moderate difference, i guess - but the WalMart in Indiana was better than the WalMart in Columbus, Ohio, and both of these trumped the WalMart in Ithaca, NY. In the Oil department AND Store organization department.
Edge seems to sell strong, apparently its very thin, and that is a premium oil too. They also sell much Mobil 1
- Nothing wrong with Mobil 1 except that some engines dont like it, and some have the old lies similar to PYB stuck in their head.
Also, with Pennzoil, WM is getting rid of certain older-shaped jugs. Would have liked to clean them out on those, seems to be packaging clearance. So, yes.. It may not have been a "Blunder," But apparently WM seems to have done an about-face and now will have Platinum (Just didnt catch on..) Certain locations MAY still have Black Jug Ultra P, and thrie alternatives easily come to within 80% of whatever Ultra would have been, including the
PP they still have.
You can also get Royal Purple in 5W-30 and 10W-30, which, according to Royal Purple, is done without their knowledge.
Id have liked to seen more grades of RP but that aint gonna happen (At WM.)
