TV Recommendations?

For the past number of years we have had a Sharp smart TV which has been... OK. Well today it bit the dust. Was hoping to tap into some of the resources here for recommendations on a roughly 60 inch TV to replace it with. Smart is, of course, ideal but we could just use our Roku if there are significant savings (or if they even make non smart tvs anymore).

Now, with the timing I assume there should be a ton of deals out there, but are any of them worth the price? Hell, I haven't even shopped for a TV in the last ten yeasr, what am I looking for?

Any experience with TLC brand? Toms Guide seems to have a high opinion despite the budget prices?

i have 2 lg's which are fabulous one is a non smart tv 10 yrs old picture is crystal clear like looking at a piece of glass. i have a tcl in my bedroom which also is like looking at glass amazing the picture quality for such an inexpensive tv. therefore i would recommend the tcl brand or lg

Pakistan.. Vietnam or Taiwan... What other countries are manufacturing TVs these days? Come on now China has their fingers in the circuitry and components anyways.
 
I was going to go with the TCL S535 because, well, its impossible to beat the features and specs in that price range. That was until I saw the Hisense R6090G5 at Costco. Slightly less HDR quality but over all amazing for $400 after tax and (free) delivery. While there are definitely nicer out there, this seems to get moderately good reviews on rtings.com and will doubtlessly be an upgrade from our old Sharp which has been a problematic Smart TV since day 1.

TCL or Hisense with Android OS would be my choice. By the cheapest, they're throwaway.

I picked up a 75" for $599 last Black Friday and it's been great.
 
Loved our 65” TCL 4 series I got at Walmart.... traded my landlord that TV and my 55 gallon fish tank for his lawn tractor when we moved out. Wish I would have bought another TCL instead of the curved Samsung I currently have.
 
LG would be my vote. My 65" smart tv has run for 12-18 hours a day for two years. Not a single hiccup and folks still comment about the clarity and color of the picture. Even the speakers are decent enough although I use something else for audio. Big names like Panasonic and Samsung just haven't held up but they were plasma sets.
 
An OLED if you can splurge. Nothing else compares. I don’t think brand matters anymore. It’s always a crapshoot. TVs are pretty much disposable. Only a few companies manufacture panels.

That said, I have a 3 year old LG 55” OLED. It was a heavily discounted Open box, floor unit. It’s been wonderfully flawless.
 
I'm returning a Vizio chromecast today very few apps allowed, very proprietary, good grief you need to run it through your cellphone! surprised they're available at Walmart given the amount of returns they'll have to process.
 
There are 3 Samsung's in my family and they have been great.
Even the cheapest most basic TV today will give a very good picture.
If your money is tight buy the cheapest one you can find.
The only down side to that is it might not last as long as the better sets.
In most cases you get what you pay for.
 
It took me 6 months to find the right TV for me.. i read Ad nauseam on reddit television and avsforum.

In todays time the 60 inch isnt really a thing.. pick one 55 or 65.

I tend to keep a set 5 years or more and $200 a year is worth it to me.

So with a $1000 budget the 65 inch Sony X900 is about the best TV for the money currently out there.

This set also has a built in atsc 3.0 tuner which will be handy soon with next gen OTA broadcasting (handy when the internet goes out).


Yeah there are 'good' tvs that cost $500 but much lesser Picture Quality.. unknown reliability etc.

TCL is a great TV as well.. but it suffers 'panel lottery'. You may get a good panel, you may not.. some if not many have had to return a few tvs to get a good panel.

In the end it depends on your budget. How much you enjoy watching TV and what its worth to you.
 
Sony 900 or 950 series.
I dont use any of the so called "Smart" in TVs and I dont connect them to the internet. I always always plug my devices into the HDMI ports, Roku, Blu Ray and Channel Master OTA controller. Im in control of the TV not dependent of what the TV what's to give me.
I use it as a "Monitor" with killer great picture and contrast.
