If you have a wide room (wide viewing angle) the glare on the plasma is going to be really annoying. So, LCD may be the better choice. Plus, power consumption might be lower in an LCD.
But, if that is not an issue for you, I love the 50" Panasonic plasmas that my friends and family have. (So, go for the Plasma, if you can.)
