I got to agree, why on freaking earth would someone buy a TV because its "smart"?
If you need a smart TV then maybe you need to smarten up! *L*

Hello?
"Smart" is relative to a 6 month period.
Why not buy a good TV and not worry about TV marketing that makes a TV smart?

Your much better off buying a device (Ruku/Amazon/Apple whatever) that can be changed out anytime you want to update how smart your TV is!
AND ...
you can also change your TVs so called "smart" to another type anytime you buy the device, such as you decide to switch from Amazon to Ruku or whatever.
You pay good money for a good TV, there is no sense paying good money for a good TV and then feeling Obligated to use the "smart" that came with the TV.

Its kind of scary the stuff people are will to accept, be independent. Buying a "smart" TV is smart for the TV company to sell you as they are making money off you by you committing to use their "smart" ...

Marketing is an amazing science and big corporations have it perfected.

They are getting closer but not in budget TVs.

My 1080p plasma is a number of years old, and I have no desire to get rid of it or "trade up," for sure.

I have a 2008 Kuro Elite; I'm in no hurry to replace it either.

Isn't that the same TV as the Pioneer plasma that is pretty much the standard for picture quality?
