4 year old TCL 6 series screen problem

The 75" TCL Roku TV model 75R635 bought from Best Buy not quite 4 years ago has just started displaying several red pixels on the right side bezel and a horizontal line across the entire screen about 10" up from the bottom. Thing had great ratings at R-tings.

I swapped out all HDMI cables, did a factory reset, checked for firmware updates... Google tells me about a T-con board...or not. Kind of annoying for a $1300 120hz TV not even 4 years old.
I'm thinking of getting rid and it and getting a TV with lower specifications and certainly less $$$.
While I love the Roku OS, I saw a 70" Samsung in Costco for $480:

Figure I can always plug a Roku stick or box into it.
What do you do with a 75" TV that otherwise works and looks great?
Also looking at LG 70". No more TCL. Have had great luck with Hisense so far and they do make a 75" Roku TV so that's in play too. Also, I need a digital optical output...not sure the lower end Samsungs have them.

LG is junk, I'd much prefer a Hisense. Not a fan of LG or Samsung's OS.
What about Sharp coming back into the US market? Have got 2 Sharp TVs...one has got to be 12-15 years old now... moved 5 or 6 times and still going strong. Just don't know who makes what brands these days.
Roku has it's own brand but I suspect it's TCL and Hisense making those. Trying to avoid TCL now

I think this is a great idea. You can get several different 60Hz models in 75" in the $500-$600 range.

Unfortunately it seems the lower-prices TVs (and other consumer electronics) have become Bic lighters. Use them for a while and toss them away.

On the other hand, if you really want to pay up you'll probably get a bit more longevity.

Well the TCL 6 series is/was highly rated. 120 Hz...I think I paid $1300 exactly 4 years ago. The line likely wouldn't bother most people but I'm OCD when it comes to gear you use every day. You can see it going through the bottom of the Live TV Guide and Prime icons.

Do you have a Micro Center near you? They currently have a refurbished 65" Sony A80L OLED for $899.99. That's about the BEST deal on a 65" television you can get right now.

If you want to stick to a 75", the TCL QD7 @ $699.99 is probably your best bet in a "value" set. You do NOT want anything budget from Samsung or LG, the picture quality is going to ruin the experience.

For reference: 4 years on a TV that gets used an average amount isn't awful in the grand scheme of things. I just had to warranty replace a Sony A95K after 6 months, and that was a $3,500 television.

Horizontal lines across the screen always used to be a failure of the electrical connections at the edge of the screen. What happens if you squeeze the bezel at that point ?

I'm not jumping back into a TCL again. I've got 3 Hisense Roku TVs... oldest one is 5 years and it works flawlessly...as do the other 2. I'm leaning towards a Hisense U6... Google not Roku but I can live with that.

Fair enough, but don't expect much more reliability from one to the other.

Google TV is a great experience, however. I think you'll find it intuitive. Not as fluid as Roku, but that's tough to beat.

Sorry about your luck with TCL. I’ve had excellent experiences with them. I have a 4 series Roku TV. Hisense isn’t bad either but I’ve never actually owned one just know several people who do. My parents really like their Phillips TV so that might be a brand to consider. I’d avoid Samsung their quality control has gotten bad. Sony I’ve seen people praise but I’ve never had any luck with anything I’ve owned from them but they have really good customer service and there was a member here who got his replaced under warranty. I personally like the Roku interface for simplicity.

Thanks... Yeah, I did some research before I bought it and it was rated well... certainly not a budget tier TV and the picture quality is amazing...football, movies all great...but that line just appeared on day. Doesn't get all that much use...2 hours/day 5 days/week. I don't know what caused it.
