Should I use the ICE polish followed by the cleaner Wax??

Also, I am using Armor All Ultimate Shine Car Wash.

Throw them in the trash, no particular order is required. Purchase better products.

+1 After using it myself, that is some sound advise!

Works well as a base wax on my dark blue Silvarado, lousy on my black Miata. I like it for trim, and a base for a real wax job. Takes a while to dry, but afterwards you might try a second wash instead of trying to rub it out. Seems to be easier to remove the excess that way.

I may try that. Apply the ICE, let it dry, then wash it off. That would save a lot of trouble and save on my arms a bit. I am almost out of cleaner wax, so maybe I will pick up some regular Mother's Carnuba wax or the Meguire's Gold wax. I think they should be good and for under $10. I got burned spending nearly $20 on ICE, I won't be doing that again.

I use ICE (Synthetic Liquid Polish) and love it.
First of all, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!

I go over the whole car and let it dry. Once dry, you then wipe off. Instructions say to use the enclosed cloth to wipe off, however I use two cloths. Works great. You must wait for it to dry before you wipe. If it is a humid day, it takes a lot longer to dry.

The first time I used it, it took me all of 25 minutes to do my car, only because I did not know what I was doing. Now, the few times I re-do it, it takes me between 15 and 20 minutes, for the whole car. A little goes a loooooong way. One bottle (16 oz) will probably polish 30 cars. (they should sell it in smaller bottles, and a lessor price). Put it on thin. (I've used about 3oz to do the car four times).

Note that the above is for the ICE Synthetic Liquid Polish.

I also have some of the ICE Synthetic SPRAY Detailer, and this is a different story. Although they both say "Synthetic" in their name, it is a different synthetic. I don't use the detailer to do the whole car, only to clean any spots that I may see. The two products DO NOT MIX, even though they both say synthetic.

Would I buy it again? Yes for the Liquid Polish. No for the spray detailer.

Note that I have not used the ICE Paste or the Clay Bar.

Or, if it's protection and shine you want, buy some Mothers carnauba paste wax (without the cleaner) and use that. It's easy to use, leaves a very nice shine and will add to the protection.

+1 use it and do it every 3-4 months until run out. Then get better products next time.

I think that's what gets people confused about the Ice polish: they apply too much, and then get angry when it doesn't dry like normal waxes do (it sort of becomes syrup-like).

Once you get the hang of it (and an extra microfiber towel to buff it with) I think its the best wax on the market in terms of results for time/effort.

You must not have tried any high end products. Mothers, Duragloss, Collinite and Zaino will kick ICE to the curb.

+1. That and the fact that there are lower end products that will kick it to the curb. I gave Ice more than one chance, and for the amount of effort involved, and the disappointing results I've moved on. YMMV

Dead thread revival:

My 16 oz bottle of Turtle Wax ICE Synthetic polish must have fallen off the shelf. I accidently ran over it backing out of the garage.

I'm glad it wasn't a better product...

But it did last for a long time..the product that is. I was only using it for the wheels, unpainted black plastic, and black trim for over a year now. It streaks when I use it on the paint.

Oh and lenses. It works great on lenses. Makes a lot of static but really works well on lenses

I use it for the same things from time to time just to use it up. I was never happy with the way it looked on paint, especially deep colors. There are so many other products that are better.
