Swapped out the PCV for a more stout Audi part no. tonight and had a peak at the top end...immaculate at 85K and this engine regularly sees hard use....a few weeks ago oil temps at 270 for a few days straight at the track. Primarily Liquimoly products(Molygen 5W40 and Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40)/additives (MoS2/Ceratec)/ and several rounds of their engine flush product but HPL now (including their engine cleaner) and a few runs of M1 and QSUD at one point.

looks great BUT how about the intake valves!!! early 2000 1.8T's reported sludge issues before recommending synthetic lubes, BUT i dumped their FREE oil changes in my 2001 1.8T for real synthetic but left the filter in!!! early 1.8T's small oil capacity 4.25 qts prolly added to issues!! traded that jetta just short of 200 thou running great for another 1.8T in a 2001 TT 225Q i still enjoy!!

I have another post about that with pictures. Looked just fine honestly and only cleaned them b/c they were in doing the water pump. The current EA888 gen 3 1.8 is a completely different engine that those old 1.8s.
