Too soon to buy a project car for my daughter?

Yeah it would be too soon, plus car price is too high right now due to production shortage. You forgot depreciation too. Teen changes their style and taste all the time so I won't buy fashion statement 2 years in advance.

Personally I would buy a cheap EV that has depreciated range that's totally depreciated. It doesn't cost much, it is ok to crash it and junk it, and the range keep them from going too far and get into trouble. They depreciate so fast buying 2 years in advance make no sense.

Once she gets her license, having three cars and three drivers will cause the insurance company to believe she 100% drives one of them, and rates will be insane.

But of course that's down the road. Still, is she interested in working on cars?

The K24s, don’t they burn oil? I would buy something that isn’t known as an oil burner because females in my family will never ever check oil, and knowing that, an engine could be ruined if it isn’t topped off. I personally would buy something that isn’t an oil burner or doesn’t really need much maintenance.
Get a Mercedes, has an oil sensor so it will tell you if you're down a quart.
