Too much oil

Subaru Loyale, 1.8L Spfi engine

Looks like someone put about 1 qt too much. It ticks at low speeds.

Should I drain it? What are the consequences. The engine is old and has 100K miles, as is the car, which has 200K miles, I don't particularly care, I just don't want catastrophic damage.

Just take the oil filter off and drain two times.That should do it.

I assume this 1.8L engine has a small sump...maybe in the ballpark of 3.5 qts? If so, it's overfilled by about 25%, something like that. I'd dump some of it through the plug or filter.
