Heavy boatish 2000 Avalon V6, Rides like boat, corners like a overripe banana. Goes like a bat out of Hades on the straight away relatively speaking. It cost me nothing to acquire.

Perfect for my 16 YO daughter.

Needs new tires. Throwing to you guys. Has some worn out 205-65R15's, what are my options here?

Michelin primacy. Mxm4 is my preference and have performed admirably in the snow, but supposedly the mxv4 is better in the snow, if that's a real concern.

I've also been happy with the higher end Bridgestone tires, Pirelli, and toyo.

Yokohama and cooper cs4 can be considered to save a few bucks.

But check michelins at Costco first, IMO.

Presumably you're looking for all-seasons? And if that's the case, you want them to be able to handle winter conditions fairly well? If so, I'd look at Nokian WR.

I just bought 2 tires 205/75 r 15 at BJ's. They are uni-royal tires. With mounting ,balancing, free rotation, a 65,000 wear out rating, and old tire disposal, for a mandatory $15 per tire. Cost for 2 tires out the door was $206. They have other brands but for my wife's Kia Sportage, those tire will do the job.,,

Michelin may be too expensive for that year old Avalon.
Set a criteria of what you want for your daughter and your new tires to provide for you Avalon:

Better Ride?
Better Handling?
Quieter?
Cost?
Etc.

What is it that you're looking for?

Hankook Optimo H727's are a safe bet/choice but, there are other tires also to consider. And, on that Avalon, you can ever consider 205-70-15 instead to "65". They make a nice alternative!

Costco's doing $70 off a set of 4 again until late Feb, I took them up on this last October on a set of Primacy MXV4's for the Taurii, shmear under $600 OTD. That's #notbad

It's a top notch tire, With a 60k warranty, And lifetime road hazard/rotation, I can vouch for them being quiet, comfortable but not boaty, Top notch in the rain, And hand on heart the best DD all season in the snow, And here in NYC these past few days, I've tested them plenty.

x4 205/65R15 94H Primacy MXV4's after taxes and discount, $480-$500 OTD
The $70 is a MIR from non Costco tire store's, They just take it right off at the register at Costco. Ain't got no time to be laying out money.

Hi Pablo,
How many miles on it? Those v6 engines are good but they do sludge.. What oil are you going to use in that? LOL im pretty sure amsoil but which one?
Those avalons are really nice cars...

Why?

Let's just say after 5 bad sets of tires that cost me a LOT of money, I have a bad taste in my mouth.

The Avalon has ~70K miles. I run Amsoil HDD 5W-30 changed at around 6K.

I would not buy Uniroyal. They came new on our Impala when we bought it last year, they are about half worn down in the 15k we have put on it so far. My family has had very good luck with Firestone/Bridgestone. The company I work for has also in the last 2 years switched over our 100+ vehicle fleet to Firestone with good luck. http://www.firestonetire.com/tires/other/fr710 this is what we put on our cars.

That's the same tire size as on my '02 Accord. I would recommend Dunlop SP Sport Signature. I got mine from TR for $344 & then shipping brought the total to $407.38. This is the 2nd set of 4 that I've put on the car. I also bought a set for another car but in 205/55 R16. I like them.

Can't go wrong with Hankook H727; I am quite happy with the set on my Saturn. Recommended to anyone who can't or won't pay the price premium for Michelin or Nokian. However, there is the speed rating thing: Your car specs an H-rated tire and the H727 is T-rated.

For H-rated all-seasons in your size, there are many options. See: http://is.gd/VkkKay Depending on your budget, the Altimax HP could be a good value. My sister---who drives the way we all want our teenage daughters to drive---likes her GY Assurance ComforTreds, but they are not cheap.

Unless you urgently need new tires right now, I might hold off to wait for better rebate deals. Slim pickings in rebates from both tire manufacturers and the usual Web sites right now.

I ran the SP Sport A2 tires on a number of cars going back to 2002 or so. Always liked them, and they did well in all conditions for me. I think the SP Sport Signature is an improved variant of that tire.

Low cost, Altimax or Pro Contact Eco Plus, which appears to be on clearance, since it's priced low on a couple of sites.
Higher cost, Michelin Defender or Primacy, or maybe Pure Contacts.

I am really warming up to Dunlop lately. Well I had good ones on some of my Volvo cars over the years and both my winter and summer tires for the WRX are Dunlop.

I just put Michelin Defenders on my Crown Vic! 90K mile tire! The best choice period! You will go through two sets of anything else before these are worn out!

Either the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum, or the Dunlop SP Sport Signature

Does your Avalon require a V-rating? I know many 90s Toyotas with that size had that requirement.
