Well, an HTHS of 2.6 is the minimum for a 20 grade, and 2.9 is the minimum for a 30 grade, yes. The ACEA specifications do not define oil grades, just minimum requirements for their particular specifications. Therefore, it would be very uncommon for a 20 grade oil to meet the requirements of the A5 specification, as very few 20 grade oils have an HTHS of greater than 2.7 or maybe even 2.8.

I called Quaker State's technical support line today, and the guy on the phone didn't know the answer; it sounded like he wasn't even sure what I was asking. I'm sure they don't get all that many HTHS questions on Quaker State oils. So they're supposed to call me back when they have an answer.

I just looked at the newest spec sheet I could find. With the kinematic viscosity's listed and the high VI, it sure doesn't look like there's any way the HTHS could be 2.9 on the 5w20, that and the published HTHS for it is 2.64.

Methinks you found a typo on the bottle. Sharp eye!

I have run the Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w20 in my Tundra for the last year.. No problems. Until I read Quaker State Ultimate Durability will blow up your engine I will use it.

Its a quality product at a great price. Once I dump this m1 garbage out of my sump I will go back with Quaker State Ultimate Durability or Pennzoil Platinum.

I will take any leftover quarts you have to properly dispose of it.
