I'd say 75% of my driving is severe service (suburban driving) and I just bought Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w20 to try for my Elantra (4200 miles on it to date) . * How many miles should I shoot for as an OCI - 3750 or take it out longer due to synthetic Quaker State Ultimate Durability ?

To keep your warranty valid, I'd stick with the factory recommendation. Synthetic oil does not reduce the excess water etc in a short driving cycle. I'd stick with a good Conventional oil and follow the factory recommendation. JMO Ed
Yes , I bought Hyundai oil filters - very solid ! I was hoping for a 5K mile OCI for Severe Service with the Quaker State Ultimate Durability . If that's an issue with Hyundai - then I might as well run Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w20 or Pennzoil Conventional 5w20 every 3750 miles and save the $ difference .
+1 short driving cycle 3750 conventional is perfect. Does Hyundai give you a time limit ?
I think Pennzoil Conventional and MC are excellent oils, but the Quaker State Ultimate Durability is such a deal at WalMart that you only save enough to buy a latte at Starbucks.
I'd go with conventional oil and 3750 OCIs while under warranty. That makes you a perfect candidate for many very good oils that often times go on sale for around $2.00 a quart.
Are you really sure about the severe driving? There is really no advantage using syn oil if you are changing your oil at 3750 miles. What is the not severe miles. How long are your trips?
I thought normal service is 7500 for those cars. Severe service is what you stated but I would be very confident that any good oil would be fine for 5K miles under most conditions... If you sit and idle for minutes on end, tow, etc then maybe stick to 3K miles but most conditions in city driving are considered normal...
Hyundai states normal service OCI at 7500 miles . My driving is mostly comprised of suburb stop & go driving 14 miles to work each way . Weekends comprise of short trips , running errands and such again in suburb driving conditions . A couple of times a month on the Interstate for a drive of 30 miles or so . Pretty "average joe" ... even Elantra DOHC 4 cylinder rarely sees over 4000 RPM (redline is at 6000 RPM). Thought Quaker State Ultimate Durability would be a deal at $19.00 to offer greater protection at start up and keep my engine cleaner. If not for me - who is the target audience for Quaker State Ultimate Durability ?
As most people said, at 3750 you don't need a 'syn' oil. A good conventional (any of the majors) will do. BUT if you want to really be on the safe side and you think your driving is that severe then Quaker State Ultimate Durability is probably the best choice you can make. It is Tough, high quality oil that won't break the bank. I still think MotorCraft would fit your need fine.
Side note: I drained some el cheapo oil from my Accord (V4) after about 3500mi. and it looked like chocolate syrup. Just nasty. So I Stepped up to syn. Just a quick story.

Are you driving 14 miles each way?
Even stop and go, that should be enough to get the oil warm enough to evaporate moisture, as well as being in closed loop for almost all of your drive.
Also, you do drive the car a decent distance a couple of times each month, and it doesn't get really cold where you live.
I think 5K on the oil you're using would be just fine, and 7.5K would likely be doable, although a used oil analysis would show you how the oil is holding up in your use.
If you really want to change every 3750, use a Grp II oil, and save yourself five or six bucks on a change.

My driving is 14 miles each way to work = 28+ miles a day . When I bought the Quaker State Ultimate Durability my thinking was : " If severe service is 3750 miles OCI then with Quaker State Ultimate Durability I should be able to go 5000 miles as an OCI right ? If not , why deprive myself the right to shop for dinos on sale and begin hoarding like other BTOGer's do !!
With your driving you could easily do 5K OCI's. If you go with a good syn like Edge, etc you can easily do 7500 miles.

5K no prob w/ Quaker State Ultimate Durability. You could do more. But Keep it at 5K for now wait for your engine to break in a bit (at least 15K) then get a used oil analysis. used oil analysis too early in the vehicles life almost always show high wear metals/silicon because of the natural process of engine break-in.

I was at my dealership yesterday for a 22500 mile service on my Accent ($14.95 for labor and OEM filter, I supply the oil) and the service writer told me that Hyundai considers Florida severe service AUTOMATICALLY. I was sticking to severe service recommendations to be safe just in case I had some type of catastrophic failure, as Hyundai has been known to refuse warranty claims if the service records aren't "just so." The service writer told me I would have no issues whatsoever.
I am not sure if GA is considered severe service by default or not. You might want to check.
