I have a 2010 hyundai Elantra. I and my wife do a lot of around town driving where the oil never has a chance to warm up and thus my decision to try a 0w-20. It has 10K miles. I have been running it with the recommended Quaker State Conventional 5w20 oil. I want to switch to a synthetic. I have decided to go with the Quaker State UD synthetic because Hyundai recommends QS and because it seems to be rated pretty highly on this forum. Wal-Mart has theQuaker State Ultimate Durability in 5w-20 but no 0w-20. I checked several auto parts stores and the only 0w-20 availabile seems to be Mobil 1. Does anyone know who else sells this oil? I don't want to order it online because of shipping. If I can't find it I will go with 5w-20 Quaker State Ultimate Durability.

Don't buy into manufacture recommends a certain brand of fluid, oil in this case, mainly because financial incentive that manufacture received from oil company.

Yeah, I guess when this oil change comes due I will just run whatever 0w-20 synthetic which is available, which will probably be Mobil 1. I'm stocked up on Hyundai OEM filters so I should be good to go.

Nothing wrong with Quaker State. At least Shell shows what group oil is used in their MSDS sheets.

You can always get Mobil Super Synthetic, 0W-20, SN, the newer line of oils put out by Mobil.
It's a lot less that Mobil 1, AFE or regular Mobil 1, in the 0W-20 grade.

0W-XX oils are not just about extreme cold performance but because they generally have higher VI's vs 5W-XX oils means they are lighter on start-up at all temp's and therefore are more fuel efficient oils.
Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W-20 is identical to Pennzoil Platinum 0w20 if that helps in your search.
If you want to try the lightest 0W-20 oil on start-up available by far, you should try the Toyota Brand 0W-20. You can get it at every Toyota and Lexus dealer.

If there is another Big Lots around, you might wanna call them and ask them if they have Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20. Thats where I got mine for $4 a quart! There is no way I'm gonna spend $27 on AFE 0W20, when I can get Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 for $20
Thanks everyone for the replies. I will keep an eye out for the Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w-20, or the equivalent PP. It seems to priced friendly compared to some others. I will check a few more Wal-Marts in the surrounding area. If I don't run across any before next oil change I will go with another brand. The rest of the car will probably wear out before the engine anyway, no matter what oil I use.

You might want to check your Owner's Manual. While there is an endorsement for QS (meaningless as others have pointed out) I believe that Hyundai recommends 5W20. On my model, there is no recommendation for 0W20. My manual says 5W20 recommended for all temperatures with 5W30 and 10W30 approved as alternates, depending on ambient temperature.
While I understand the benefit of 0W20, I will be sticking to 5W20 until my power train warranty has expired (in about 2 1/2 more years.)
