Hyundai Elantra manual states 3,750 miles with no mention of either conventional or synthetic . What does your automobile manual state for severe service OCI ? No OLM comes with the Elantra , so the dealer says the manual is the gospel and all driving shall be considered severe (if you get off the Interstate ...)

3 months 3,000 miles severe service for 1988 Ford E-150. I do 2 6 month OCI's a year, on occasion I've stretched it to 1 year OCI's. I use Synthetic oil in it. I fall under the severe service category according to the Owners Manual.
My 93 Aerostar IIRC has the same schedule for SS. I change the oil every 5,000 miles using conventional oil. It also falls under Ford's definition of SS according to the Owners Manual.

Mine does, too. My OLM is based on amount of fuel consumed only. If you operate the vehicle in a way that produces poor MPG/high fuel consumption (such as lots of idling, lots of cold starts, high speed driving, towing, etc.), this would shorten the OCI.

2006 Nissan Munrano -3750 miles for severe, verses 7500 miles for normal.

Most OLMs use total rpm's verses mileage or gas consumed. They also factor in cold starts.
Mazda CX7 5,000 & 7,500. Follow the manual at least till you get out of waraanty and then extend to 5,000 and get a used oil analysis.

Both my Titan and Altima 3750 Severe 7500 normal. Titan manual states mineral based oil preferred, but I am running synthetic (Ultra) for now.

Buick: 3 months, 3000 miles. I change at 7500-10k miles on "full synthetic" since I'm putting on lots of highway miles up and down the hills here. 5w30 of whatever syn is in the stash.
Honda: Follow the OLM. It's rumored to be a very smart OLM system, calibrated for conventional oil. I'm running Mobil 1 0w-20 in there since it gets driven spiritedly immediately after starting. Fortunately it's doing about 90% highway right now.

Severe service interval = non-severe interval and Mobil 1 oil, verified with UOA.
