It has been years and years since I was in a smoke shop, but today I went to one with a friend. Sticker shock to say the least. I did at one time like the small swicher sweets cigars, wow, a pack of 5 was $ 3.65. Truly if you like to smoke I guess you would buy them. The store was a smokers delight with 100s if not 1000s of selections of cigars and cigarettes to choose from.

Those smoke shops seem to be everywhere, so much for smoking is bad for ones health, lol.

Hey if you smoke, eat fast food, drink 16oz soft drinks, drink to much beer, eat eggs, meat etc you might die.
These morons are actually flabbergasted when someone that lives healthy, doesn't smoke, drink etc keels over.

I smoked for 45 years, quit 12 years ago. Now I can't walk 100 yards without stopping to catch my breath, and I use an inhaler to help my breathing. Oxygen tanks are my next step.

Don't talk to me about smoking not hurting your health.

you want sticker shock, head up to NY, the city esp. (yes i know EVERYTHING is more expensive there but still...)back in '02~ish,a regular pack of Cigarettes (let's say Marlboro lights) was $10.
where as here, today, in Lima Ohio, they run about$5.60 before sales tax...

Cigarettes are anywhere from 13.50-15.50 a pack in Midtown Manhattan. What a rip, just like everything else in NYC. Even the "tobacco" pipes usually carry an NYC premium

In the late 90s you could get 5 "white owl" cigars with demi tips for under a buck. Now they're like $3.79.

There was just a massive tax increase on roll your own cigarette tobacco but a loophole for "pipe tobacco" so now everyone just rolls "pipe".

It has been said that the Federal Government doesn't want people to quit, they want them to pay MORE in taxes and die before they can collect Social Security. Seems pretty cruel to me. The way to beat them is not to smoke.

Now that really makes sense.imho

Pretty insightful........Never thought of it that way. Gives politicians more money for their benefits etc. While paying out less to the masses.

Back in 1983 when I used to smoke, Marlboro reds and 100's were $0.50 a pack.

And as a contrast I'm 68, my wife is a handful of years younger, and neither of us have ever smoked. We still bicycle, jog, walk, exercise, and my wife and I are very active. I'm only contrasting a difference so that others might decide which course to take. There is no doubt whatsoever that smoking will do drastic damage to your health; it's too bad more people can't or won't see it.

Smoking is bad for you, but a few cigars a year won't hurt you. Moderation is the key.

I like a good Churchill and a scotch.

Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or is my scotch of choice.

Same with smoking a tobacco pipe. You don't inhale....generally very low in nicotine (aromatic blends), and at least for me and many others...non-addicting. Only reason I stopped was for a cheaper life insurance. Statistically, smoking a pipe is the LEAST harmful of tobacco partaking.

About the cheaper insurance thing. Before, they simply asked you if you're a smoker. Now I believe they have a way to "drug" test you for tobacco.
