Let start be saying that I am old and jaded. Their are so many ways to die according "doctors" like the latest stuff on TV claiming apple juice can kill you...
So, I smoke cigars, drink rum with coffee, eat red meat, ride a motorcycle without a helmet...
I do this because: I can.

My interpretation....you would have to be a cigarette chain-smoker for 30 years to get the type of lungs shown in medicinenet.

You are mixing up two different insurance polices.
Health insurance only pays for your medical bills.
Life insurance is death insurance, to pay death benefits after you die. The pay amount is more based on natural death, accidental, or suicide; not death due to a specific disease that might show up on a autopsy.

Don't understand what you are getting at with your last paragraph. I'm not mixing up insurance here. I am referring to my life insurance policy. My policy would never cover suicide either. Insurance companies have been known to deny benefits based on the CAUSE of death and if it violated any agreements in the original contract (policy). Obviously if I was to die from emphysema caused from smoking, my life insurance could be voided (and I would agree that it should be). My question is more about if the DETECTION of tobacco use in an autopsy, or blood work, could deny those benefits to the beneficiary named in my policy (even if the tobacco use had nothing to do with my death).

I was replying to your post in this thread that only said "insurance". My Life insurance is simply an annuity policy based on age, (the only question was age and marital status). My health insurance asked specific questions about smoking and existing conditions.

The links in my post provide specific details to your question about detection of the use of tobacco in an autopsy, not related to any type of insurance.

I appreciate your informative post and have looked at the links. Thanks for the info. I suppose I should just call my agent and ask him if my policy changes or is effected in any way if I occasionally smoke a pipe. I'd hate if anything should happen to me and then have my beneficiary denied my payout. It's essential that this not happen.
