Yessir … some long walks much like FRA
Yep … just when you thought !Some CRAZY long walks! Like wholly unbelievable, takes you 30+ minutes! My most memorable was walking what seemed like forever, then having to get on a bus to go even further to this remote terminal that I didn't even know existed.
And very long lead projects going through EIA, FEED, permits … engineering, construction … commissioning etc …The environmentalists are going to have to get off of their high-horses about opposing nuclear power generation, SOON! Renewable energy is all-well-and-good except that there needs to be backup power for the times that wind and solar can't generate power (which is frequently/daily). Natural gas turbine power generation is a good short-term solution, but nuclear power is the only practical long-term solution.

It’s permitted … but, money guys got cold feet (sorry) …Yup! Did they get as far as an EA for STP 3 and 4? We did up here for DNGS B, so the site is "ready" for new construction once a design has been settled on. It took many years to get that EA though, and that's just expansion of an existing facility for which a sister set of units was always planned to be constructed.
That's excellent. Let's hope that Vogtle can be the "lesson learned" on the AP1000 and we can do 4x more in Texas faster and cheaper, that'd be a pretty smart move IMHO.It’s permitted … but, money guys got cold feet (sorry) …
After the long delays, huge cost overruns, and construction mismanagement by Brown and Root, the financial partners (including Austin) lost interest in continuing the STNP construction beyond units 1 and 2, and that was the end of that. They tried to restart the project in 2011 but the extremely high cost scared-off the investors. If they decided to go ahead and build units 3 and 4 now they would have to start from scratch.Yup! Strange part was as the partners started going soft … the US NRC continued the review and issued the licensesThis sounds a bit like Darlington. They were originally supposed to build a B plant, but the cost overruns and delays (due to Chernobyl's industry pause) meant it was never built. 15 years later the plan was revisited, an EA filed and eventually approved. This EA has been maintained for the purposes of a new build and has recently been announced that this is finally being acted on.
Hmm... was just saw a tweet saying that the EPA refused to allow Texas to run all of their operational power plants at 100% output during the crisis and that there was 110% of capacity available to meet the demand except for the standing federal limits.
I have a ball valve and it’s insulated … built a little “tent” for a heat lampI didn't read the entire thread, so forgive me if this was already asked. Don't homes in Texas have valves to shut off and drain the plumbing systems?
The new wind farm by me is German equipment and a German owned power generation company … this company alone has a couple dozen wind farms and other foreign companies build these as well …So basically Texas bought a Harbor Freight tool kit because it was cheap in the short term? Now that things don’t work and are breaking-down, they’re learning it would have been less hassle and cheaper long-term to just buy the good tools from the start?![]()
