Was sitting at green stoplight waiting to turn left, waiting for an oncoming truck to clear the intersection. Person coming up to the red light ran it and clipped the oncoming truck. Truck that got clipped spun out, nailed the car behind me and then hit a tree. Three wrecked cars, all surrounding me. Luckily, nobody injured. Cars involved were trashed though.

Also luckily, I hadn't fully pulled out in the intersection. Most likely would have gotten t-boned on the pass side, where my girlfriend was sitting.

Watched it all happen in slow motion. Person that ran the red didn't even slow down, and seemed really out of it. WOW!

Had someone watching out for me tonight.

Also, cars involved were a Chrysler mini-van (car that ran the red), a Ford Expedition (truck that got clipped), and a Saturn (car that got clipped when the Expedition spun out)

All the airbags in the Ford blew, but for whatever reason the Saturn airbags didn't, even though it was a full frontal collision.

Expedition had a solid dent from the clip, but would have still been drivable if not for the tree where it came to rest that smashed the front end.

Luckily the Expedition didn't ROLL, because it was full of younger guys, some not wearing seat belts.

People get killed in accidents like that. I'm glad that you and the other innocents are okay, and that there were plenty of witnesses to help the cops throw the book at the offender.

The Saturn may not have decelerated (or accelerated) quickly enough to trip the 2nd airbag sensor.

Actually, I saw a dude swishing a Heineken while chatting with his wife and smoking (in his minivan) tonight. Needless to say, me and my friend didn't follow too closely.

The accident missed him entirely in his car. It would have missed him even more entirely had he been on a smaller vehicle.

Motorcycle... no safety cage, no crumple zone, flying debris...

If you think being near an accident like that in a car makes you want to pee down your leg... when sitting out in the open on motorcycle (instead of being totally surrounded and protected by a car), you likely will.

You're right, you don't get it.

I'd be scared half to death if that happened to me on a bike. Motored or not. Glad to hear he's all right.

Now if I were that Saturn I'd be on the phone with my ins. company yelling my head off at them so they wouldn't raise my rates.

Good to hear that nothing happened to you two. A buddy of mine got T-boned in his Dodge work van. He spent the better part of a year getting his spine straightened and had to have a few surgeries. Another foot towards the drivers door and we would have attended his funeral rather than a BBQ in his back yard.

Again, good to see that you two came out of this unscratched.

mrsilv04, don't worry, I get it. I initially thought you were insinuating that he would have been hurt somehow, so that's why I responded as I did.
