Thinking of going back to MC 5w20 or "gold" PYB

Oregoonian: it is on the "watched list" but $4 for a synblend seriously makes me wonder; even at work/friend price. Don't know, but the NAPA syn is itching at me to try it in 0w20 flavor

So has anyone here ever ran ANY synblend to 10,000 miles? May just bite te bullet and get some Napa 0w20 and grab some Napa 5w20 from work for the ford side of the fleet and be done

If your thinking of going back to 'full syn'......QSUD would be my choice...... since it quieted both our engines from our previous use of M-1.

How about a conventional to 10K? Take a look at the MS5K in blue--any synblend should perform at least that well.

If memory serves I believe it has been posted here that Pennzoil Gold is 50% synthetic and thus is the better buy between the two oils even moreso with MC being more expensive. Based upon your driving style, I am pretty confident it can go 9-10K (MS5K which is a conventional made 10K in my old FX4 with some cushion). One UOA would tell you for sure.

+1.
I think 2015_PSD is spot on with his reply. And, he is correct about the 50% of synthetic oil in the Pennzoil Gold.
You can't go wrong with either oil, but, that 50% of synthetic oil and a lower price is a great selling point to me.

QSED is also a 50% blend. Of course, Pennzoil advises on their comparo page that Gold is part GTL. QS makes no claims to this but is a little cheaper.

As for 0W-20, the Napa Synthetic carries this viscosity as well.

I don't have a problem using the Motorcraft blend in the 5.0 in my 14 Mustang and I'm sure it's worked harder than either of your cars.

Of coarse I don't obsess like I used to about what oil I run so I just use what Ford recommends and go by the OLM or one year.

I'm sure the rest of the car will fall apart way before the engine does.

I don't think you mentioned your annual mileage with these cars. I have several cars in my fleet so I try to gear my oil selection around an annual oil change. With the clear superiority of synthetics and their common availability for <$5, there's no need to mess around with conventionals. Semi=off spec syn

Don't forget about the Castrol Magnatec 5w-20 because the 30 weight is a synblend, but the 20 is full synthetic. $18.74 for five quart at my local store. It's .77 cents higher than the Motorcraft per 5 quart jug.

Too bad you can't get Trop Artic, I picked up 12qts for $1.99/qt at my local farm store.

Also, three pages into this thread about Syn blends and no one has mentioned Valv. Max life. Surprised.
