Thread to share crazy stories that are within forum rules and wouldn't make sense to start a thread for on it's own. I'll start, I just avoided getting caught in this mess this morning. Glad I didn't leave the house a little later! The police here have this net they shoot out that gets tangled around the rear wheel of a fleeing vehicle that slows it and causes it to stop. They used it on a woman fleeing in an old 300 this morning.

Amazed at the quantity of unmarked LE working on a Sunday morning in Phoenix.

One night at work we were dealing with a young lady that was being processed for possessing/using Methamphetamine. Not uncommon in my county, however, she was also pregnant. I have a tendency to be a bit snide with my comments from time-to-time and was walking by as I was wandering around one night....

Me:
'You know that meth is probably not the best thing for the baby, right?'

Her:
'It's ok, I'm taking vitamins'

Having no response to that comment, I just walked off back to my office.

This week alone I've had 6 calls pretending to be the police. If I don't hurry up and pay the money I owe, I'll be arrested. Me being me, tell them to come on over ASAP. Today I just put my phone down on the bench in the shop, and took my dog for a walk. He obviously figured out eventually that I wasn't listening, so hung up, and then called back 8 times while I was gone. What amazes me, is that these morons think for 1 second I take them seriously. What cellphones all need, is a button we can push, that sends out an ear piercing sound to anyone who calls us, we don't want to speak to.

I’ll tell one about a crazy or maybe just ignorant customer a few weeks ago. Customer drops off vehicle for vibration at 60mph. I test drive vehicle to verify the complaint and sell a tire balance on it. I test drive after I balance the tires and park it and give the ticket to the advisor. Customer comes to pick up the vehicle and pulls up to the front of the shop and begins honking for a manager to come to her. So manager goes out and she said my car now has more mileage than when I dropped it off to you guys!!! Why does it have more mileage?? And the boss was explaining the test drive and service we recommended she is like well I didn’t authorize my car to be driven by anybody here I told you what is wrong with it so why would you need to drive it and says how she just wanted us to assume what was wrong and sell it and if that didn’t get it she would come back and we would try something else but we shouldn’t drive her car. And she just kept going on and on and eventually the boss says something and she finally leaves after saying how her car lost a couple hundred dollars in value because of the higher wasted mileage on it now.

How was your test drive to Chile?

@AutoMechanic when will the smoky burnout video be on youtube?

I volunteer at a dog rescue. A retired Vet adopted a dog that came in pregnant so we had her for 2 months and knew her temperament was good. The lady called the next day and said the dog was acting nervous the first day so she gave it tranquilizers. She was complaining the dog was still nervous the 2nd day she had her and wondered what was wrong with her. We got her back and successfully got her happily adopted soon after. Glad the lady Vet retired.

Here's a good one, I was out for a walk Saturday and came across a RAV4 under a car cover and for whatever reason I decided to take a picture of it. As I'm walking around the cul-de-sac this woman comes flying out of the house and I'm like crap, this is the woman from the HOA meeting. She moved in and a month later shows up to the HOA meeting, guns blazing without any idea what she's talking about, has no idea why the board is where it is, etc. So since most of the people are older and original owners (houses were built in 1995) I was the only one confronting her. Long story short we're at it again over me taking this picture of her car. Wild thing is she had no idea who I was! Trying not to be too nasty the best I could come up with was calling her "one feisty broad" 🤦‍♂️

Retail like drama. Heard them all…..

I have way too many stories I could share…..

An apartment I lived in had a sliding glass front door and another one straight back through the living/dining room out to the patio. One night while watching TV I get a knock on the door. Weird...at this time of night. I pull back the curtain and there is a fully decked out SWAT officer! A little stunned, I open the door, "Yes?" He askes if he can go out on the patio to see across the pool to another unit. "Uh, why?" "No one told you?" "Nope." Turns out, a guy had barricaded himself in his gfs apartment and was supposedly armed. A domestic dispute thing. So I say ok and let him in...the lights are on. He goes to the back curtain and opens the door...light pours out. I ask him "Do you want me to turn off the lights so you're not backlit?" "Oh, yeah. Good idea!" He checks my patio and decides it not a good vantage point and leaves. I get on Yahoo Chat (remember that?) and tell a group what's going on. My windows are open to let the breeze through and I don't hear anything for a while so I assumed it resolved. Negative. Must have been about 25 minutes later when I hear about seven shots. I hit the floor and stay there for a bit....all's quiet. I rejoin Chat and tell them, but then my eyes started burning and my nose got weird. Those shots were tear gas being fired. The next day I heard the guy gave up after he was told they were going to send in a dog. The first and third , they should have warned everyone. The second one, I can't believe I had to ask him that considering the guy was armed. I get a laugh out of the whole thing, now!

If you ever want to find out about, or get Obamacare ACA insurance coverage from healthcare.gov be prepared to be overwhelmed with phone calls and high pressure sales. It was something I never want to go through again! for 2 days my phone got 10 or more calls an hour from 7AM to 9PM (turned it off after 9 then 8) with no way to stop them, it was insane. Never call during the annual enrollment time at the beginning of the year if you can. Do as much research as you can about the 100's different plans and make sure you are getting insurance not a supplemental insurance plan that works with a real insurance plan. What a nightmare!

For a while there I got really good at mimicking the chime and then the "I'm sorry this number is no longer in service If you've reached this in error please try again. Message dn58". That usually kept them from calling back.

I had a guy in a wheelchair come up to me in a grocery store and flat out ask me which of the two boxes of whatever he had was better for his health as he's diabetic and has health issues. I told him consult a doctor I don't know. He called me a jerk and wheeled himself off. A couple of people in the isle looked at me dumbfounded as to why some random guy would do this.

A couple quickies..

The guy returning stolen DG peanut butter.
Guess he didnt know what DG means on the side of container.
He kept doubling down that they got it at the grocery store.
Finally Police showed up and arrested him for a warrant.
So. DUMB... 🤯

I had to laugh at a woman returning a full sheet cake half eaten for being stale.
That was the old scam.. buy a bigger cake and return half of it for full refund.

Sounds like she might be a fellow BITOGER and a card carrying member of the BITOG Vehicle Depreciation Goon Squad. She could have invested that money.
