Not a bad price, however, nothing on the jugs pertaining to flow at x temp, nor can I find anything on their web site. I've used M1 for almost 30 years and knowing it would flow when it was below zero was a big selling point. Not sure I would consider the new product until this is clarified.

$23.82 is a decent price, but if you use the Pep Boys 'buy 3, get 3 free coupon'...you can get M1 for $1.99 a quart. Just wait till they put it on sale for $3.99 and you will get a super deal.

12 quarts @ $1.99 = $23.88

Samtheman I just purchased 2 cases of M1 5W30 and 1 Case M1 10W30. SM GF-4. The individual quarts say pours to -53F (47C) and protects at oil temps to 400F (205C). Only difference in the specs on the bottles is that the 10W30 is A1/B1, A5/B5 whereas the 5W30 is only A1/B1.
hope this helps.
Agree that the PepBoys coupons are great!

It just hit me that you where probably reffering to the Extended Protection version. I just finished watching the incredibly dull Nextel Cup race and am half asleep. My answer is probably of no value to you.

Where do I get the Pep Boys buy 3 get 3 coupon? $1.99 a quart sound too good to pass up. I have 2 Harleys that I need to keep happy

Pep Boys is selling the calendar for a dollar. That money goes to MADD. Inside the calendars are various coupons good for the whole year. No limit. I bought 7. That's enough to get me through next year on M1.I was just in there today and they still had a lot of the calendars left.

M1 EP at AZ= $5.99qt
M1 EP at Walmart = $5.36qt.

I'll do anything to avoid Walmart so I'll buy my oil at AZ.

German Castrol is at AZ as well.

So Mobil puts about ten extra cents worth of ZDDP into the EP stuff and raises the price a buck a quart.

They blow chunks.

I'll be switching to another brand of syn, or just going dino more likely. (I'll show Mobil alright!)

No, 36% more anti-wear/detergency and 50% more SuperSyn PAO over the GF-4 Mobil 1.

That sounds good, until you look at the actual amounts.

Increasing a .10% ZDDP level by even 100 percent isn't expensive. You could treat a tanker load of Mobil 1 with a few two dollar bottles of STP as far as that goes.

Calcium... 33 percent more (or whatever)... can't justify the price increase.

More Super-Syn... What's that?

I still say screw 'em...

I dont agree with you... also
M1 used to be 21.92 here in 5qt jugs..
M1 EP is 23.95?? thats 40cents a qt.. not a dollar.
If you dont like it just buy the old stuff that
they lowered the price on... and be happy.
No need to bash M1 for coming out with another superior product.

If you are trying to sell both kinds during the change over you either drop the price on one or raise the price on the other. Guess which one I would try first.

I will wait a while and see if the price doesn't come down on the new stuff.

Yeah, the old 15W50 redcap Mobil 1 was (still is if you can find it) 19.75 or so at Walmart. The new stuff is 23.85 IIRC.

23.85
-19.75
______

4.10/5 quarts = .82 cents per quart increase.

I stand corrected on the cost increase.

I think Mobil is goobering up their market position, though. As they approach the price of Amsoil and some of the other "boutique" syns, they're going to lose at least some customer base to the other brands.

'course they're Mobil and I'm me, so that's that!

They aren't going to lose me. In fact I have "upgraded" to the EP oil and will extend my OCI to 10-12k. Still a great value in my book.
