"Make changing your car's oil easy with the Automotive Oil Change System. No more crawling underneath your car. The Automotive Oil Change System pumps out oil and sludge through the dip stick tube, saving you time and effort. Use it for oil changes on cars, trucks, boats, lawn mowers and more."

Even the comments are negative. This post is largely for amusement purposes.

What a worthless product. You still have to crawl under the car to change the filter. Why not just do the job right while you are down there?

+1 - and getting everything out to do the job takes longer than the job itself.

I wonder how many suckas (yes, suckas) are going to buy that.....and never change their filter!

They assume over and over that I have oil and sludge in there!

Similar premise of the "Topsider" and other systems, handy if not necessary on boats where you can't get under the oil pan.

Same deal with my Dodge aries

In fact, the way the filter is mounted horizontally [PRONTO] Then it's just a matter of scooting under the car a bit to get to the drain plug with a socket.

I imagine this would be handy for getting UOA oil samples though...? Cause the one time I tried one of those cheap $3 "sipon pumps" I gave up lol.....

That set up or something very similar has been around for 15/20 years. Maybe WM didn't carry it but its been available.

A lot of cars have the filter in a more accessible location where you don't need to get under the car.

while that particular contraption looks really ghetto, I wouldn't automatically dismiss oil extractors all together. It just depends on the car. My Freestyle has super easy access to the filter and oil drain plug under the car, no skid plate to remove...I don't even put the car on ramps or stands! I just slide under the car. Easy!

On some cars, though...I've had cars with elaborate skid plates which needed to be removed, and oil filter access from the top, not the bottom. On some cars, you can extract just as much (or even more) oil via an extractor. So, just because one car has an easy oil change from underneath, doesn't mean they all do.

These vacuum pumps have been around forever. I have a pela manual vacuum extractor for pulling oil out of a boat motor and have used it to refresh tyranny fluid. But they are somewhat useless on anything that has decent access to a drain plug.

I believe some manufacturers recommend this method for oil changes - Mercedes comes to mind. My Mini has a top mount oil filter, and I use my Pela extractor to draw out the oil on every other change. I get five quarts out, so nothing remaining in sump. Great for my boat, and necessary for my jet ski. Use it for my power steering fluid changes, and even to do partial transmission fluid changes.

So, although I do not know about this one, an extractor has great uses.

Nothing wrong with an extractor, I'm sure pros/cons have already been discussed ad nauseum here in past threads, it's requirement for certain euro brands, and how it can actually remove more oil than drain plugs that are not always positioned at the lowest point, but on the flipside on particular vehicles the tube may catch on a flap in the dipstik tubeand not get to the oil or get stuck.

But it helps to compare the procedure using a high quality tool rather than a cheap one that is too easy to dismiss as worthless or prone to problems.

mityvac 7201 for the win in my case...

Especially with this mityvac model, it has dispense feature to easily dump the contents to your recycling container.

Yeah, Mityvac 7201 to do oil change for MB, BMW, Audi ... is so easy and fast because these engines are designed to do oil change with a fluid extractor and with cartridge filter on top of the engine, no need to raise the car, no need for jack stands or ramps and no need to remove and re-install splash shield. Many more benefits to list.

There is no alternative for doing the job right. Don't be lazy, jack the car up and get the oil out the old fashioned way. Every car has a drain plug for a reason.
