"Revived" two Briggs and Stratton quantum push mowers

I had a similar Toro with the same engine. It ran good and gave a good cut. However, the drive system was its weak point. I guess that’s to be expected with a $80 - $100 disposable transmission.

No need to cobble anything together, $11.24 Rotary kit and you are on your way.
That only fits MTD push (non-propelled) mowers with a 7/8 shaft, I don't know about throwing random adapters on decks they weren't meant for as the depth of the blade adapter can be different and the blade may end up too high or too low in the deck, you'd have to cross reference the original manufacturer and see if you can find an equivalent part for the other shaft diameter. Even adapters for the same manufacturer aren't always the same, I salvaged and adapter off an early 2000s MTD Yard Man mower to replace a bent adapter on a newer style MTD self propelled mower and the adapter was too tall and would not fit.

The current Harbor Freight Predator vertical shaft engine has a 7/8" PTO. Most of these old Briggs flathead powered mowers were designed around a 25mm shaft.
The original comment was regarding the 7/8" diameter of the HF engine in a re-power scenario. My point is there are adapters that fit that diameter just fine.

Shaft length and blade height are left to the installer to make work for their particular machine. If you read the user reviews on those machines, guys just cut down the shaft to fit their need, if needed.
