The Honda Oil Filter Thread

Ok so I can get a 12 pack of the Pentius PLXL7317 for $87 CAD on Amazon.

I haven’t seen any of the ratings for that filter or the Honda “003” made in Japan filters but am I safe to assume the 7317s are better? The C&Ps I’ve seen on here look great.

I want to buy one of these 12 packs of Pentius PLXL7317, but will my car last that long, and/or will I buy another Honda that would be compatible with my stack of filters (taking things in reverse)? Price for just one filter isn't good here.

I had the same internal debate, and decided I'd rather have too many than not having one when it was needed. At just under $5/filter, and filters having a long shelf life, I mashed the Buy button.

It's my understanding Honda hasn't changed their filter fitment (maybe a part number and build, but all are compatible?) for many years. Their filters are the same for all Honda models except for the S2000, and there are other brands using this filter, also.

Does anyone know if/where to find specs like efficiency ratings and bypass valve settings for the factory Honda filters? Especially the made in Japan version.

Just FYI in case it'll help anybody, but the Honda LB15 1.5 4 bangers (NA in the Honda Fit, 2015-2020 and presently turbocharged in the Civic and Accords) can take the larger Fram XG3593a's no problem. I use them exclusively on the wife's Fit to up the meager 3.5 litre/ quart oil capacity to 3.7/3.8. I know it's not much but seeing as it burns .5 of a litre/quart over it's OCI, I sleep better knowing that there's over 3 litres in the thing at any one time.
