I used to do the points, condenser and timing in a very few minutes. I got good at that. But I only rebuilt one carburetor, the 2 bbl on my Ford 289 V8.

I think the GM carburetors were a bit more complicated, especially the 4 bbl ones.
Yeah, points were not a big deal nor was timing.
I still have my timing light and dwell meter from way back when.
Carburetor rebuilds weren't that much of an issue and I even rebuilt the Keihin three bbl on our '76 Civic with no issues. Just follow the instructions and be rewarded with a much smoother engine.
