Good day folks. Does anyone here remember the great band? Stumbled across some records of them today via the lovely gf.

Edit: this song reminds me of my late father which is good. Brings back lot of good memories. Dad passed September 22 last year. Anyways this band I like.

Let’s discuss

Their song, Sirius, is played on the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car broadcast as the field lines up for the 4 wide salute before Johnny Gibson does his "you wanted the best, you got them four abreast." I never knew what the song was until I heard it on SiriusXM on my Joe Satriani channel.

That era Parsons was pretty much soft rock, their earlier stuff was pretty hard/experimental. I started with Tales of Mystery and Imagination which is a salute to Poe and is pretty rockin. Pyramid and I robot were prog rock . Eve and Turn of a Friendly Card were more poppy. After that they kind of morphed into soft rock/adult contemparary. But its all pretty good.

I was a young audio salesman in 1988 at a high end Hi Fi stereo shop that had a collection of the best mega expensive stereo systems ( the best stuff ) and a large collection of the finest audiophile recording on Lp and CD at the time.

Thats when I heard Alan Parsons Project I ROBOT CD for the first time on the limited, Mobil Fidelity Sound Labs label and was a 24K GOLD CD! Played on a then $30K+ System in 1988 money... That day changed me, I have never been the same!

It kinda blew my mind to be honest, that music and the audiophile sound took me to another world!

The wife and I hit up the local thrifts and used record stores a lot. We see a lot of their albums, crazy how that music seems like it was only 20 years ago. Time waits for no one, sadly.

Of course. I had a couple of their albums back in the late '70s to early 80s, Eye In the Sky and I Robot. I had a friend in college who was pretty much a groupie of the band and got me started.

I brought them up on Spotify just now, I'll see them in playlists in the near future :)

The only thing I can think of when.I hear The Alan Parsons Project is Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers movie.

"Sirius" was the Chicago Bulls intro in the 90s.

If a team was playing @ Chicago in the 90s and they heard this song, it was over before they knew it.

The wife and I took our daughter to that game. She loved the Bull's and the Bear's and the ILINI girl's basketball team.
