Thanksgiving Plans?

Again remembering those dealing with loneliness, chemical dependency, financial uncertainties, hunger, mental and physical health issues and unrest.

All of which I've personally experienced in my past but have worked through.

That cabin looks like a fantastic getaway! For Thanksgiving I will be doing the family thing, against my will... pretending I like the in-laws. LOL!

My family will meet at a condo in Panama City Beach for Thanksgiving. We did that two years ago and it worked out well. We plan to leave next Sunday morning.

We always do volunteer work for the holidays. We're driving into the city early Thursday morning and preparing/serving at a homeless shelter most of the day. Then Friday and Saturday we'll take our therapy dogs out-I think we're scheduled to go to a veteran's retirement home as well as a couple regular retirement homes.

We've found that the most rewarding thing we can do is give to others, especially over the holidays. It's a tradition we started around 35 years ago.

We usually do Thanksgiving at home, and the inlaws try to come up; then travel to extended family for a second dinner on Saturday. This year the inlaws can't make it up, so we're undecided. We thought about volunteering but so far it seems our kids are deemed too young by the kitchens we looked up. Our house is too small to have anyone over, otherwise we'd think about that.

Am halfway tempted to tell the wife to forget it, it'd be better to go and see if there was a community dinner for this or that organization; but I know she already bought a large turkey.

I simply expect you to do some volunteer work, and to do it without later constantly mentioning it in a self-congratulatory manner at any opportune moment.

I will be going to her relatives house for dinner... the food is always bad and all of them no nothing about football... sucks every year... can't get out a there fast enough...
My best thanksgivings were days I went out on the boat fishing... lake to myself and turkey sub for dinner...... way back I used to get on the 900 ninja (weather permitting), and ride for hours...
Camp looks great, big cooler of beer, wine for her, lock the doors and giddy up!!!

My family will probably travel in, but it will probably be just another regular day for me.

I may even have to work.
