I just want to thank Bullwinkle, edwardh1, and Andy636 for going off on a tangent and getting a thread locked.

This post was supposed to be a humorist way of expressing the art of negotiation.

I was about to post the same thing. Unless Dave pruned it tremendously before the lock, that thread died from natural causes.

Yeah not to sure what more you were expecting others to add to the thread anyway?

The ironic thing is I expect this thread not only to get locked but to be evaporated completely because it does not belong here :-)

Dunno, it is a little funny how the hammer of doom falls rapidly sometimes! I wasn't trying to cause trouble, but it seems to happen occasionally.

I'm sorry that my somehow funny/ironic remark got your thread in the HUMOR section locked, but I appreciate you taking your time in creating another one just for naming and shaming.

I wish you a nice day MolaKule!

Gentlemen,

Threads generally get locked or disappear due to rules violations, RSP, or some variant thereof.

The "humor" in Mola's OP was good, and the lesson could be applicable to a WHOLE LOT of topics. I liked it. But then I kept reading ... and some of you had to "go there" ...

As to why there was a dead zone in the time frame, we take action when it's reported or discovered, not posted. Like most of you, I have a day job, and don't sit here ready to pounce on every post in every sub-forum; the same could be said of all the staff here. That the other thread laid in dormancy for several days before action was taken does not, in the least, make the politics ok.

Molakule often has funny, witty, insightful posts. This was a good one. But it took a turn for the worse, and was actionable afterward, through no fault of Mola's. I locked it, but left it there for two reasons:
1) it was enjoyable as well as sort of a mini life-lesson
2) those that dabble in RSP can see the fruits of their labors

Should I lock this thread? No. At least not until someone violates the rules ...
Should I move this thread? Eh - probably so, but sometimes leaving the dead body hanging is a reminder to everyone ...

If you disagree with me, feel free to PM me.

Mola,
you are one of the "old guard" and "long timers".
i'm part of the some that DO appreciate your technical expertise and your humor.
please don't be a stranger.

we need more people like you

respectfully,

RSP is Religion, Sex, or Politics and should not be part of the post.

The original post had no RSP in it.

Again, the original post was a humorous way of telling a story about the art of negotiation.

Dnewton did exactly what he was supposed to do so don't point any fingers at him.

Thanks; and don't expect a pointed finger from me; I'm a mod elsewhere on the internet and locking is locking; FWIW I enjoyed the tale, too bad the thread went astray.
