hi... thanks for reading.

i traded in my forester an purchased a 2024 Toyota Sienna (platinum model, if it matters)... my driveway is built weird where i have to turn my steering wheel fully locked (and turn) for 1 full rotation / 360 degrees before i can get out of there. after reading the manual, it states "do not hold steering wheel in fully locked position for extended period of time." what does extended mean?

i think it has electronic steering. i have no idea. help a girl out, please. wife/partner is going to kill me if i ruin the van.

Just go until it stops and then back off a couple degrees, so the rack isn't pushing against its stop the whole time. Extended probably means 30 seconds plus, and the motor or motor controller would start to overheat. Cars are pretty abuse proof and a few seconds of cranking the wheel until it stops isn't going to hurt anything.

It's more about the pressure you're putting on the steering wheel than the angle. You don't want the steering system crushing up against the stops, it just puts unnecessary stress on the whole system. Pushing harder won't steer any tighter.
