Do you think they you know more than them? Tell them!
Do you know the Mobil 1 ESP oil? Some people avoid it because it's not API and ILSAC certified. You remind me of them.
I've been running techron or other carb/injector cleaners in my mix with no issues. I do make it 40:1 to "compensate" for cleaning properties, just in case. But haven't had a fuel issue yet.
I also add stabil to every mix. Probably overkill but I know that fuel will be good for a while.

Use whatever brand of JASO FD oil only. Never Stihl Ultra (JASO FB) even if they give it to you for free. Germany gets the good stihl oil, we get the crap stuff.
You can use techron without harm at the proper dosage. It may not do what you expect. A carburetor screen can still get clogged. Varnish from the stihl ultra will take time to clean off if it has built up.
