Techron in 2 stroke mix?

I'm running a br800 Stihl 4-mix blower with Saber 50:1 in non-ethanol 90 octane. I have no clue as to the detergents in the gas as it comes from the local Valero station and this is my first purchase from that station. Your thoughts, please, as to how Techron fuel system cleaner might affect the cleanliness of the combustion chamber and the overall "runability".

Like Newt said. "It's not going to make any difference."

Non ethanol fuels still contain additives and cleaning agents. Valero's ethanol containing fuels are "top tier" and I wouldn't be surprised if the top tier additives find their way into their non-ethanol fuels as well.

If you were running Stihl Ultra at the correct 50:1 mix ratio, I would say you don't need anything else other than quality fuel.
not sure why they would want to downgrade to a JASO FB 2 cycle oil from a better oil.

The OP should be using a JASO FD oil
if techron is used not more than 1oz per gallon ... and not continuously.

but I would skip the techron.. and use a good JASO FD 2 cycle oil (such as saber at 50:1, echo red armor, Vp racing etc)

I'm also not a believer in 100:1 for saber but I am sure some do.

Thanks. Amsoil is not officially an FD but they claim to exceed FD. I run Saber because it really does lubricate well and seems to be cleaning well. I've tried several oils, even Schaeffer's outboard oil which was soot heaven, and Amsoil Saber was the best. Well, it is what it is, and now I have partially used bottles of various 2 stroke oils which will be used as assembly oil but not in my engines. Stihl 4-mix engines, from my experience, do not burn as cleanly on many oils that I have tried but Saber seems to be the magic elixir. I was hoping Red Armor would suffice but it ran so dirty in my br800 that the mess is still in need of cleaning. Saber smells good to me, too. I will never run 100:1. Not with a plastic cam.

Stihl doesn't think too highly of the JASO test system. They think their oil performs better than the FD rating. That's the short answer.

Source?

It appears from the bottle that they think their oil performs as well as the JASO FB rating.

It was mikefunaro's post HERE
the bottle says meets jaso fb.. it would cost nothing to put "meets or exceeds jaso fd" on the bottle if it actually did?
The main parts of jaso FC and FD vs FB are improved cleanliness.
such as deposits and exhaust blocking.

So a guy on a forum heard from a guy at stihl.....

If your Stihl runs good, I wouldn't add Techron. I never had to add a detergent to any 2 cycle ODPE which I have. My ODPE is old ranging from 15-20 years old each. I never had a fuel problem up to this point.

10-4 good point. Sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone.

So he asked Stihl what oil to run in his echo.. and they thanked him for his interest in stihl products?
Seems over 50% of the people find that comment as useless as I do.

The "trust us bro" is strong here.
We have the magic sauce nevermind it does not pass jaso FD its magic.

Echo seems to do fine with its jaso FD recommendation.
are the stihl tools so poorly built they need magic oil?

Yes I believe none of that.

But getting off topic here. So I'll let it rest. We can break this out to its own topic if you wish.

He was asking about Stihl oil which is a Stihl product. What do you expect them to tell him?
