I went to Walmart and noticed that some of the Techron bottles (12 oz) say they treat 15 gallons of gas. They look almost identical to the old bottles that treated 12 gallons.

I wish it would treat 20-21 gallons like Gumout Regane, but 15 is better than 12.

These are new bottles, right?

I have old 12 oz Techron Concentrate bottles I bought few years ago, it treats only 12 gallons of gas. I need to use 2 bottles for 22 gallons tank. The newer 12 oz Techron Concentrate treats 15 gallons.

It's too bad they just showed up. I bought the older bottle last month and didn't notice any difference in performance. I was expecting it to fix a mild detonation problem I've been having. Regane fixed for about 2000 miles or so, but Techron did nothing. I hope they didn't slap on a new label without adding more additive.

I wonder when they'll change the bigger bottle to treat 25 gallons. 15 new / 12 old = 25 new / 20 old

Indeed, it seems a lot of gas additives are moving to more "concentrated" methods.....Prestone particularly....almost all their products are "2x Concentrated" - on the shelves in 2-4 oz. bottles...lol. They look almost ridiculous :)

I'm curious how well they work though...I know I like the 2x concentrate enviro-friendly aspect, but I know when laundry detergent first moved to 2x concentrate, it's as if they removed all of the "water" (the carrier....) making it extremely hard (long) to measure the dose to the cup, and then dump the cup into the washer cause the detergent would stick all over the sides of the measuring cup.

Believe the same thing holds true here, Chevron probably just pulled out some solvents and left enough detergents to treat 15 gallons. They generally dont get caught up in "marketing" since their products are recommended my many automakers.

Dont be fooled. I work for them. They didnt change the formula. At least not in my area yet. Not sure why it will treat more per bottle.

Yes, they do play the maketing game just like everyone else. Trust me.

prax,

If you having mild detonation issues in your engine you should buy Chevron gas and then add two bottles of Techron and drive it every other day. I believe the secret is to allow the Techron to soak on top of the pistol heads when the engines off. Driving it everyday doesn't allow time enough to let the chemical do it's job.
