This oil is actually the most advanced they make. I spoke with a guy in central Jersey who sells it and uses it in his personal and drag racing cars. It's a PAO/Diester/Polyolester based oil.

He put over 200+ K miles on his truck using this oil. The truck developed a gasket leak. When the mechanics took off the valve cover, they couldn't believe how clean the insides were. He would take the oil out to 15k mile drains. Synergyn has quite a bit of esters and the chemist told him that sometimes you'll notice some cleanning taking place when switching to this oil.

If you look at the UOA's of Synergyn, they have a similar effect on soft metals much like Redline. Good stuff. I can get a 5 gallon pale for $160.00. It's expensive oil that usually sells for $11qt. The chemist used to work at Amsoil but wanted to do more cutting edge work. He then left and now is the head chemist of Synergyn. They are known for their low viscosity racing oils. The guy said that Amsoil was content on staying as a long drain oil much like Mobil 1. He also said in the drag racing world Amsoil is known to be "cutting edge" anymore. I think this 0w-20 could be the most robust 20wt oil out there. Again though, UOA's are only one aspect to judge an oil. It's interesting to note that people that use Synergyn and Redline and perform tear downs rave about both oils. LG Motorsports uses nothing but RL in their Vettes.

Did you mean to type that Amsoil is NOT ‘cutting edge’ anymore?

Kenny Bernstein is retired but was one of the best Top Fuel drivers in the NHRA drag racing field, he used Pro-long in the oil of the dragster he drove, I saw his pit crew putting the Pro-long in the engine before a race,
does that mean we should all use Pro-long in our cars?

John Force is sponsored by Castrol and I am sure uses Castrol oil in his Top Fuel Funny car, he is one of the best drivers around, in the last 20 years of Top Fuel Funny Car racing, he has come out on top and has won the Funny Car field 15 years(?) in the last 20 years.
Does this mean we should use Castrol oil and we will be winners just like him?

The drivers in the drag racing field run their engines differently then those of us who drive on the street, from my observations of the Top Fuel cars, the engines are torn down and rebuilt every run down the strip, the oil is changed twice for every strip run because the engine will dump fuel, etc. into the oil when tuning for the next race down the runway, after the engine has been tuned for the race the crew will change out the oil before setting up for the next run.

I do not think that the Racing Cars to Street Cars is a Apples to Apples comparison for every aspect.

I believe Synergyn and Redline oils are great products and I may try them out my self in the future.

I am not trying to give you a hard time buster

I have used the more reasonable priced Synergyn, the 3W30 and the 5W30. Also, I have used Red Line and am presently using the 5W20 in my wifes Mazda.

Personally, unless I was driving some thing more exotic than my wifes Mazda 4 cylinder, I am just flushing money down the drain. Don't get me wrong, the Mazda loves the 5W20 RL. Or better stated, I love the sound and feel of the engine with the Red Line, and also with the Synergyn I used previously.

I am going to try either Pennzoil or Schaeffers 5W20 next. I only change the oil every 12 months so December 06 will see the new oil.

Bill, I'm well aware of that. Also realize that Castrol and the others custom formulate for those guys. My point was the Synergyn 0w-20 is probably the most robust 20wt oil you can buy and that in racing, Amsoil is not cutting edge. Overkill for sure, but for racing it would be my top pick.

Synergy is indeed an excellent oil that is often overlooked by board members. Last year I spoke to a fellow who works at Synergyn and tied to persuade him to become a board sponsor. The board did not have as many members as it does now. Who knows what the future holds. Their 3w-30 is still an outstanding oil, even if they have cutback on some of the additives.
