Seems like a good filter for the price especially being made in the USA. This is the ST filter compatible with my 2008 Subaru, but I'm pretty sure the bypass relief is much lower than the 16-28psi you see on more Subaru specific filters. Still thinking about trying it at some point anyway. Thanks for posting.

Current SuperTech filters are blue and made by Champ Labs. The white ST filters
were made by Wix. OK filters in either case. IMHO.

My 2¢
Just to clarify: The white ST6607 filter above has a nylon core and standard pressure relief valve. That would be Champ, correct? Super Tech ST6607. The Super Tech MP6607 is blue and also appears to be Champ.

The ST6607 is spec'd to fit my two Nissan's - but its significantly shorter than any filter I have ever used including the OEM, so I passed on it. Looks like a decent filter though, thanks for posting!

Also: white can is rated for whatever Mike range; blue can is for longer mileage I think. I’m probably wrong. Can anyone verify this?
At present the white ST6607 is marketed as a 10k mile filter. The blue MP6607 is marketed as a 20k mile filter. If you go up to my previous post and click the hotlink for either that'll take you to their respective product pages.

Engine appears healthy? So say we all? (Engine Ford Boss Me cut the filter open on is no longer in the vehicle so this represents what is actially on there now)
OK good so this new engine is actually looking and feeling okay. excellent. I just wish I was better at tracking mileage. I *think* that filter is from about 1200-1500 miles on the New To Me/starting from an unknown and sat in a junkyard for 3 years or so engine of unknown mileage... after it was installed in my vehicle.

** I looked through my mileage notes and I did not log the new engine in my maintenance book because I was so honestly I rate that I missed the hpl event that I just decided that this engine will be the one that stays in the car forever and I didn't log into my maintenance. I just looked so that I could provide some information as to mileage.

Be that as it may, it is reasonable to assume that there was approximately 1500 miles on this newly installed engine possibly 2000 before it was removed and mailed off to @53' Stude
^ this filter was installed on a vehicle when I did my good deed of trading just shy of 600 lb of antifreeze product made a trade for a tank of gas with a b i t o g member. This oil filter was installed when we had to add a quart and a half of engine oil after an extended highway run when the engine was confirmed to have engine oil consumption issues which may have been traced to the PCV system since consumption appears to have slowed.

I alternate between 6607 and 9688. I might go ahead and order some 3593A's if I find them very cheap I think some people mentioned that they're available cheap somewhere. If I recall, a 7317 can also work.

I went into Walmart and they wanted like $9 for a frame orange can I was like no.. I wouldn't have had any problem buying the orange can but they priced it like a dollar less than a tough guard and $2 less than an Ultra so I was like no I'm not doing that. The MP is the blue.. they want almost $6 for it and since I'm obviously changing oil filters about every 5,000 miles or so I don't see any need to spend the extra $2 when I'm buying a filter that's already rated for $10,000.. I would put specialty filters on this car but I'm more likely to go with specialty oil than specialty oil filter. What I should so is go to Walmart and buy every 6607 or possibly 9688 they have available because they still cost $3 in change and I just don't think I'm going to be able to find that anywhere else even if I add in shipping on a Fram 3593a.

Here is a sneak peek of the next one I'm mailing to @53' Stude let me see.. this one was removed from the car.. let me see.. let me look at my maintenance notes, as I made note of when I took this one off the car...

EDIT: OK yup the filter in this thread had approximately 2000 miles on it as it was installed with the new engine and the next and upcoming one will have 1200 miles on it to try to get an idea of the health of this engine. Driving it seems pretty solid and dialing in the oil level. Oil will be changed end of the month again as per baselining of fluids. Engine oil has seen about 4500 HARD miles. Here is pics of all that.

And I always thought super tech was made by Champion labs they changed the filters from black cans eons ago.. and they might possibly be the best value in oil filtration you can get...

As to the pics, everything 7/22/2022 forward was in preparation of attending the hpl event that was organized and I actually hope another one is organized sometime in the future because of its on a weekend I will be able to make the event. Something about closing a door and opening a window we could say. You will recall that my car failed on the road 2 hours into the journey and I never made it. (Despite all that..)

So the 9688 was on the Subaru?

So the 9688 was on the Subaru?
I'm not trying to advertise my car too much if you get what I'm saying but yeah it's coming on and off of a Subaru let's leave it at that LOL.

I'm pretty sure you can run either a 3593a a 6607 a 7317 or a 9688 on a Subaru and I think there's a 9688 on it right now let me go check because I actually just forgot what I put on there.

Oh ok. The third one you received which will be the one after the one that I pictured but didn't even mail yet will be another 6607.

I'm going to go take it easy for now because tomorrow resets my entire week and I don't want to overdo it right now so let me engage in some self preservation right now.

Here's the third one you'll be getting because you haven't even gotten the second one that's on the towel yet.

I'll try to mark mileages.. next filter you get will have a scant just shy of 1300 miles on it. Filters are cheap, engines are not.

Napa Gold 7055 then

Yes, Schwinney, you can run all the ones you mentioned, and the 7712 as well, but I’m not sure why you would since it’s the size of a decent shot glass.

I run the 3593A on my OB and the NG7055 on the Impreza. I’d run the 3593A on the Impreza as well if it didn’t have the Red Cross heat shields around the exhaust… I donated quite a bit of blood the one time I was obstinate & put that size filter on it.

7055 is a good balance between size, construction, filtering, and access.

I'll have to make note of the ones that you said although like you have an ej253 because you have the exhaust manifold that wraps around where the oil filter is and it can't take certain size filters as a result. The 9688, I am genuinely curious to see how it looks because what if the engine oil decided to increase its cleaning for more around town trips than a long highway drive, treating it kind of like the doggy bag for the poop, similar to how some that duty extended range on their oil change the filter mid-way. Having done my share of having engines change for myself and about three other people in this life being addicted to having problems for pity, I would rather change $4 oil filters than engines all day long which is why you're seeing so many here..

Kicked around the idea of spending a whole $12 on another Mazda N3R1-14-302 although based on the comments I see of the product they may have changed it I don't know if that's true or not.

Let me stop posting for the day I'm actively enjoying this conversation but I also don't want to do anything wrong here.

Speaking of Subarus…. The FRAM PH9715 (a Subaru specific aftermarket) is $4.70 on Amazon. It’s nearly identical to a Subaru 15208AA12A. Only differences are a lathe-cut flat gasket vs the OEM round gasket and the color of the can. Same exact filter element, filter media, bypass valve, and ADBV between the two. The 9715 is hard to find on shelves.
