Sudden Gas Price Increase in Central Pa

A significant portion of the buying public is still primarily focused on ICE power vehicles or hybrid. EV simply isn't either affordable or support infrastructure isn't in place. Range anxiety is a significant factor especially in rural areas. Personally, at 76 and with no ability to change at home, I'm unwilling to spend a portion of my remaining life sitting somewhere while the vehicle charges, not when I can fuel in 5 minutes and drive 500 miles.

Speedway? About 10 days ago or so, one Speedway off I-80 was $2.71 for almost two weeks. Everything else was $2.99. Now, everyone $3.25-$3.29. Must be the big Presidents Day weekend. Take advantage of all those running out to the mattress sales. On a side note, several Speedways, including one just built two years ago, are changing to Amoco. I think there are Amocos in the suburbs but none around here. We have BP here. Aren’t they the same?
I read 7-Eleven may have sold off some stores-Amoco is basically just a brand name of BP. We've had some new indy Amoco stations popping up around here.

If I had a better garage, and preferably at least a small solar array, I would seriously consider the new Lexus RX PHEV-although the $70K price tag is pretty steep.

87 went down 10 cents yesterday only to just go up 30 cents today...???

Here in Central Pennsylvania, at least in the Harrisburg-York corridor, virtually every station went to $3.79.9 on Friday, a few outliers a few cents less, just amazing how fast and coordinated it was. Everything, major brands, Safeway, Rutters & independents, all the same and started Friday. Interesting

Same out here northwest of Pittsburgh

I has something to do with a refinery

It’s been quietly mentioned since about 2018…
There are cases working their way through that claim price fixing and monopolistic practices (collusion) amongst the big boys similar to OPEC practices.

Supply and demand has been broken in many industries for about 15 years.

It's just kind of more than coincidence when EVERY station in the area jumps to the same price in just a few hours, major chains, independents, convience stores, literally all jump .20 -.30 cents/gallon usually overnight. Most likely because the terminal that supplies most of Central Pennsylvania is located, I believe, in Lebanon Pennsylvania. Speedway has remained consistently high, even when stations around them drop.

I have three distribution regions in my area. The prices will go through them like a wave. First this area going up, then they go down and another goes up. There is an outright price war in one town with the Circle Ks and they will be 30 cents lower sometimes.

It is a disgrace there will be folks buying from Amoco stations thinking it is the same quality that brand name built up years ago.
The Amoco gas was truly a premium gasoline years back. Not so anymore....

After paying a gas station call the police and tell them you got robbed. 😖
Gas is cheap and gone up less than or the same as inflation over the last 50 years.
If you pay more than the lowest cost states than look at how much tax you pay on each gallon you buy. It’s tricky for you to figure out by design in your high tax state

Yes, lots of people fail to realize that some of their price of gas is due to state tax. Then we also can't forget there is at this time also about 20 cents of federal taxes in there too.

Also local sales (city and county) taxes and punitive taxes in some states like CA on refinery operations bottom line is the consumer pays them all not the companies.
The product itself isnt any higher than inflation over the last 50 years. (maybe even less than inflation depending on the item)

I would say since the Covid time my driving has been reduced just once a week maybe, 100 miles at best but usually half. But my mower gas use has tripled as i use the old JD for hauling stuff almost daily. Usually just off idle and full pedal. Interesting to see it uses about gallon per engine hr, same as when it was mowing.

But I should start applying for my state tax refund on the road tax part. I probably use around 70 gallons a year.
