For the past few days I've been hearing noises outside. Then yesterday I noticed some dryed up material hanging from the light fixture on the back of the garage....so I took it down. Then this morning I hear noises again and notice the kitchen window is all dirty. A big glob of dirt with dirty bird foot prints on it (The North Side). So I went out to clean it off and I noticed the garage window (The West Side) had the same dirty bird feet prints on it. And then I noticed the same prints on the garage door window next to the light fixture. Are these Robins trying to tell me something?

Male cardinals can get quite aggressive fighting their own reflection.

Can you describe the sound they make? If it sounds like laughing, I would bet it is American Robins which would be nesting right around this time of year.
Jay's would make a cawing type sound.
Grackles sound like monkeys hooping and hollering in a jungle.
Starlings sound like short whistles and chirps.
Just a few examples to think of when you hear it again. I'd leave the nest up if it's a Robin. They are beautiful creatures and won't cause much damage. Supposed to bring good luck as well and we can all use some of that.

This is always a bad time of the year for birds. We were walking in the park this morning, and at least four birds were squalking and fighting in a pine tree. Two of the cardinals that live around us were flying wildly in our yard today.
A few years ago there was a crazy robin in our yard. It would perch on the car mirror, and attack its reflection, then fly around, perch somewhere else, and do it again. Ultimately I wrapped all the car mirrors in saran wrap, and put a few plastic owls nearby. That worked.
