This is the weirdest problem I've encountered yet with my Gateway laptop. About a month ago I downloaded the Comodo Firewall and over the course of a few days noticed there was occasional static popping sound while watching streaming video/youtube. I didn't conclude at that point it was Comodo Firewall, so I upgraded the chipset driver, the wireless LAN driver, and the audio driver. After messing around with the machine for about a week, I concluded it was Comodo Firewall by reinstalling a system image from before I downloaded it because uninstalling it didn't fix the problem. Bingo, most of the static is gone, but it's still occasionally there when watching Youtube videos. It's not all the time, just every 10 to 15 seconds there will be a static pop sound in the audio. the audio is crystal clear when playing music or video off the hard drive.

I have no clue how to fix this; it's very annoying. Could it be my internet connection? Youtube itself? Coincidence??? Is there anything else I should try out to troubleshoot?

Thanks for any help.

Monkey with your flash player. If you're like me you never even see it not in your browser, eg standalone. Update it, roll it back, check its performance settings. I wonder if the firewall isn't letting it buffer what it needs.

I've clean reinstalled Flashplayer probably a dozen times! I'm thinking maybe it's the latest Flashplayer release??? I'll try and find an older version and test it.

It's the NSA protecting you.
