Hi All,

Does anyone have a go-to source for this? My 2006 911 with 50k miles has bore scoring and I need to buy a little time before figuring out my next steps on rebuild or replacement. I have searched high and low without any luck.

Thanks so much in advance!

Yep, since Ryder Fleet went out of business, this is unobtanium stuff. Lots of us want it, can't get it affordably. Not sure why this is the solution to the predicament you are in, but them's the facts.

No oil will fix the damage, and you seem to be fully aware of that. I wonder if products below will help any? Or maybe you could get in touch with @High Performance Lubricants directly for some custom blend? Idk, shooting darts in the dark here... But one thing for sure - Valvoline Blue Restore seemed to work, but not nearly as aggressive as advertised. In some vehicles it made 0 difference, according to a few members here. As far as HPL lubricants - they stay humble and move mountains of dirt, sludge, and crud out of any engine they go into. Just remember to change oil filter often, as it WILL fill up.
HPL Engine Cleaner SAE40
HPL Euro PCMO 5W-40
HPL Super Car 5W-50
This thread may be of interest to you:

When I called the local diesel repair shop, that carried it a few years back, they said it had been discontinued. So, you'll have to hope that some shop has a full barrel, or closet full of boxes of this stuff and will sell it to you. Hope Valvoline brings it back. Might not be a high enough volume product to keep blending.

Prevention or rebuild...

Consider a thicker oil, and hope it buys you enough time for the rebuild appointment, or sale.

It was a specific service product to correct the carbon packing issues in the rings of early ISX engines, at this point all the effected engines should have been scrapped or rebuilt with the updated rings thus the product is no longer needed.

I am assuming the OP is not confusing this with the additive "RESTORE" which is a last ditch effort product that contains copper particulates et al to "fill in" cavities in an engine?

Seems like that would be the thing to try in this circumstance IMHO

Honestly there's not much you can do but park the car and start planning.

Your damage is already severe. By the time you can see the scoring from the sparkplug hole, you're past "light scoring."

At this point you're just doing more damage and putting more metal into the oil by continuing to drive it. No oil will change that.

I think it would be embarrassing to show up to German car specialists for a rebuild with this in the sump. What do you have to lose?
RESTORE is the only product that contains the technologically advanced CSL formulation which actually fills in and seals microscopic leaks in the cylinder wall. That CopperSilverLead shotpeening micron dust powdered metal should rebuild it like new ;)

At this point, the OP knows what needs to be done. All else is fun and games. Get the big can of Restore and give it a try. If it doesn't help, I would make sure you have 2-3 oil/filter changes before going to a reputable Porsche shop for the R&R&R. You don't want them to see what you tried to do. Until then, this is when 5w50 and 10w60's 'might' help with some consumption or blowby issues, or the gold ol' bottle or 2 of STP for a top off if you're losing too much oil. https://www.stp.com/product/synthetic-oil-treatment/ or ceramics https://www.stp.com/product/ceramic-oil-treatment/ or some tungsten nano replicators and Borg nanites https://rislone.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/44104-PDS-1.pdf

Definitely could be a 'fun' project, and then post back how you tried everything, and nothing worked but the 'rebuild'.

Thanks all, for the replies! I went from burning a quart every 1000 to one every 575 miles. 911's burn lots of oil, which is considered normal, but not this much! I'll take a look at these posts and links in more detail and see if I can find something that will buy me a some miles.

Yeah, my brother has Porches. There ain't much you can do and no additive is gonna help much as it's a known design defect in certain vintages. He had one of his 911s sent to a place in Georgia that specializes in rebuilding Porche engines. I'll contact him for info if you wish if wish, PM me and I'll get the info. It takes a while though to get it back...

Thanks, and yes. The best guy around to rebuild Porsches is in Georgia - Jake Raby with Flat 6 Innovations. I contacted him a few weeks ago and they are not taking any new customers because their waiting list is over a year with all the supply chain stuff. He has a great and informative youtube channel - one video he made was 'Living with Bore Scoring. That is where I found out about the Valvoline Restore. He talks about it at around the 12 minute mark:

I thought it was available at CAT heavy equipment dealers.
