Anything Billy Joel.
One good thing about Madison Square Garden being shut down (probably forever) is that I no longer have to be tortured by that fool on Wednesday nights.
What did he do? We’re you selling popcorn and beer?
Curious what do you like. Lots that you don’t (I get it, that’s the point of the thread). Can’t say that I agree on all you dislike, some yes, some no... everybody’s ears are different...
Guess I like a few of those songs, It seemed like they lost their way to me.....Just like Megadeth's Cryptic Writings album (I bet ole Dave wishes he could take that back?)
Kill 'Em All was kinda raw & was glad they refined their style.....And Justice For All is probably my favorite Metallica album.
I was always more of a Megadeth fan than a Metallica fan anyway, I bet most metalheads like one more than the other.
Metallica is the most successful heavy metal band of all time, and I believe it's by a huge margin unless you include G n' R (125 million vs 100 million), so yes, they became popular, but that's primarily because they weren't so heavy as to drive away folks whose limit were songs like "Sad but True", which, by metal standards, isn't overly heavy. They had broad appeal.Metallica's first album (actually an EP) was really good. Kind've metal-punk? Then they became just another bad pop band.
Those last two sound like the levels in Doom 2.
Never heard.
Nope. Love Venus. And I’m a fan of camp for sure.If you hate that you'd probably hate The Shocking Blue's version of "Venus".
I'm all on board with campy 80s myself.
I LOVE Shocking Blue!! They did a ton of Holland only releases that blow Venus away. Holland had an incredible music scene. Shocking Blue,The Golden Earrings (later to become "Golden Earring"),The Outsiders,Sandy Coast,The Tee Set,and so many more.Wh

I’m also a fan of Airplane era Grace Slick and Elvin Bishop era Mickey Thomas.
Maybe it was the first time I realized my musical heroes were getting old.
I was surprised to find out Bernie Taupin wrote it.
That definitely explains it, while I like a number of Megadeth songs, I can probably count them on one hand whereas I can sit down and listen to every Metallica album from Metal up your a$$ (later called Kill 'em All) to S&M without skipping a song. Once St. Anger came out, there were songs I just couldn't get into, like basically that entire album, lol.
I will say that Metallica is one of the only artists I can listen to the majority of their discography in that manner though. While I like music from other bands, and absolutely love some songs, I cannot sit down and listen to their albums start-to-finish without skipping a number of songs.
With 5FDP this got worse with subsequent albums. I can listen to "The Way of the Fist" start to finish, same with "War is the Answer", I skip a few on "American Capitalist", a few on "The Wrong Side of Heaven 1", a few more on "The Wrong Side of Heaven 2, more still on "Got Your Six" and even more on "And Justice for None".
Another band that I like a large cross-section of their songs is Rammstein.
If I sit down and choose "My Top Rated" in iTunes, the only artist that has full albums will be Metallica, with likely those early 5FDP albums and AC/DC's "Live" special edition album, which is of course actually a compilation.
IIRC, Doom used something derived from "Master of Puppets" in MIDI format, this seems to confirm it:

Like Airplane but Starship is what I love. Gracie has always been the top female vocalist IMO. However, in everyday life she makes AOC look like a genius!Wh
